Tripp gets invite to NFL Combine

Got it, 5700. A question for you or anyone, how could Tripp have been used more effectively? I'm just curious as to what you or anyone thinks? I went to the home games and watched the others on tv. I played college football. I played defense. It is not clear to me how Tripp could have been used more effectively. I don't understand the comment.

And regarding whether it is the job of the coaches to get players to the NFL, I don't necessarily agree with that. I think it's to win games and develop the character/person of the player.

I thought he should have been used as a pass rusher more, much like what KC did with Derrick Thomas back in the day.

Okay, got it. Didn't he blitz both from lb and down lineman position? UM mixed up its pressure, using backers and d-backs. He was good in the blitz and good in pass coverage.

He lined up as a down lineman alot but usually dropped into coverage at the snap.

It makes that we used him in coverage like we did, when our defensive backs struggled against better passing teams. Tripp is a rare 3 down linebacker because of his skill set. He is capable of rushing the QB more with great results. It is hard to turn a guy like that loose on the QB when they are mobile and the team struggles against the pass.

Just a guess on my part.

Our defensive scheme was the problem why are team struggled against the pass.. There were way too many incidents, where we would only rush 4 and drop 7. It was just a matter of time before our defense broke assignment because the QB had all day to throw the ball.
