I agree that this would be a very good time to support the team. Just a thought.

Kyle Samson is a very nice guy and good sportswriter. He didn't use the dirt term. I have been with him with over half of the Griz football coaches, know they like him, and would assume they must trust him based on what we discussed. Travis d has to trust him, because I know what Kyle knew last season and never said a public word about.

While I am fine with questioning and picking at words and statements in eGriz, I don't think anyone should be held to the standard of writing and thought that most would be held in their day jobs. The pace is faster, quicker and looser on eGriz.

I don't fully understand what 75 and diesel were talking about but still found it interesting--and appreciated the civility.

I agree with much of what you say. Now give us a similar fast and loose summary of Hillary. She could be described in similar very unflattering terms. Be honest.

I despise Hillary, but for totally different reasons. Hillary is far too corporate friendly, and is one of the country's leading war mongers. These evils have become conventional in our society and are almost the norm among our present politicians, to the point that the evil these things represents do not even raise the hackles of the typical voter, any more. You may be surprised to know that I am in agreement with you, Feesh. I don't do politics unless it's in response to someone else doing it before me. I would ban any political talk on here except on the forum reserved for it. But, once someone opens the floodgates they should not be allowed to go unchallenged.

They must "trust him" for what? To not publish information he should not know, because it cannot be published. Uhhhhh ....

My point was, that professionals -- coaches, politicians or otherwise -- understand that "off the record" has a short life span. People don't keep confidences well. Kyle objected. And yet, as if to underscore my point, along comes someone who says he did not know Kyle well, claiming that Kyle told him that UM coaches share "dirt" and "very private" information with him precisely so that Kyle could demonstrate how coaches "trust" him -- by betraying their very confidences.

That puts UM coaches in the worst possible light. I understand what "confidential" information is. I understand what "dirt" is. UM coaches CANNOT -- I repeat, CANNOT -- be seen by parents, fans, supervisory personnel, or Federal regulators as spreading "dirt" or "very private" information.

"Dirt" has meaning. And of course, Kyle was betrayed by the confidence he made, just as I said "you don't do." Then Kyle did not disavow the remarks. Firstly, it's against the law to spread "dirt" or "very private" information about students, including student/athletes at the University of Montana. Secondly, it is an enormous breach of ethics. Thirdly, it is an insult to the bond between coach and athlete that the coach would be spreading "dirt" around about his athletes.

Coaches have no business spreading "dirt." I like Travis, but based on what you say, this may require further inquiry. If he intentionally "shared" personnel and student information, just to make Kyle feel good, with no other purpose, and in breach of UM and Federal rules ... the policy will have to take its course. Moral: don't screw with the rules, don't betray the athletes, and don't share with people just to pump your own ego about what "coaches tell you."

You don't run around publicly saying that University of Montana coaches share "dirt" and "very private" information about student athletes. It's not just illegal, it's unbelievably --unbelievably -- stupid.

Excellent suggestion. I've been searching for a suitable write in candidate ... someone who'll take us to extinction a little faster than either of the two major parties and just get it the fuck over with.
