Throwing the ball

TM was the more accurate QB in 2012. His completion percentage was 65.4% vs SSH's 61.2%. TM did throw more short passes - 6.6 YPA vs 7.1 for SSH.

As many have said, the zone read offense doesn't fit pocket passers like SSH or BG. No defense is going to be worried about one of those guys pulling the ball from the RB and taking off. They fit better in a power run game like Hauck ran, where you need to throw deep occasionally just to keep the defense honest. Why recruit two different types of QBs without offensive packages that play to their skills?

Tmac is cash but he will be competing with jj for starting qb this spring after he get a quited. will be good for both of them

Actually UM Football is about winning championships (period) you are making yourself sound less knowledgable when you say its about National Championships. Truth be told NDSU is about National Championships. You cant get to the NC Game without a strong seeding as a conference champion. Especially with the changes coming next year & the post season field expanding to 24 teams. I love the FCS format for post season play. You cant deny that these games have not been incredible to watch! Griz will be back in the mis on the serious side in 2013.

AFTER we win the Big Sky (again)!

The ultimate goal every season, for every national power, is winning the National Championship--period.

Imagine if we had a qb that could make plays. Run for that extra first down on a blown play. What if he could be accurate and fun to watch. Could make defenders respect him because he's an athlete. He could lead a team vs playoff Teams and play good enough to win.......oh and he would be a freshman. Would.you like that? We have that Trent McKinney!!!! He was great, he could do all that and more. We beat ewu (and through bad coacHing lost) in his first big game played well vs asu. Sure he didn't get to throw down field. He can't be blamed, coaching didn't ask him too. He never got a chance. Remember this kid was a rs freshman. Vision, feel, game speed and leadership come over time. The kid has game changing ability. If nothing is there, he will and did make plays with his.feet. The spread only works with mobility. He's the only qb.on our roster with it. Now a Soph. He will be even smarter and smoother. Griz nation we have a great QB. Just let him develop, he is spending all off season on throwing motion and consistency. He will be your 2013 starter!
(sorry about grammatical and spelling issues, my phone has correction issues)
I've seen Trent enough to know he is "NOT" the guy. Can't read the coverages...doesn't have the accuracy...average arm. Anything is possible, but Trent had better be working his "a$$" off if he wants another opportinity.

But I think Bryan Bennett is more likely to come to Missoula then TRod. I fully expect him to leave Eugene after the bowl game next Thursday. Heard he's been in contact with a few of our guys who are returning!

An interesting development. Before the season it was generally considered a QB battle between Bryan Bennett and a Redshirt Freshman in Marcus Mariota. Mostly seen as a win-win situation by the Duck fans since it evidently was viewed as one of the better QB battles Oregon's had in a number of years. There's two other were Freshmen last year in Jake Rodrigues and Jeff Lockie and a junior Dustin Haines. Marcus Mariota must've won the QB battle since he is nominated for the Manning Award: he one of ten finalists for the Award for being the top collegiate QB in the country < http://www.goducks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=3383&SPID=233&DB_OEM_ID=500&ATCLID=205808261" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The first Freshmen to be 1st Team All-Conference PAC-12 since 1989.

I would welcome anyone (including seeing the advanced development of current QBs), who can bring consistency in the passing & enhance the talent we have at the WR position...
