Seven Montana high school basketball players have been selected to play in the 2015 McDonald’s All-American High School game on April first.

McKenzie Johnston of Helena Capital, Brooke Jones of Manhattan, Hannah Dean of Gardiner and Taylor Goligoski and Jaylee Albert of Hamilton are girls players nominated. Johnston and Goligoski will play basketball for the Montana Lady Griz.

Billings West senior, Jared Samuelson, a University of Montana commit, and Hellgate H. S. senior Tres Tinkle, an Oregon State commit, are the boys nominees from the state.

Correx are welcomed if I've missed anyone. Just read a brief report of this that seems a bit incomplete.

How does that work? I cant imagine that all the McDonald's All-Americans from all the states play in one game? Is this a regional thing of some sort for the game?

To my knowledge, each state can nominate players (I am not sure of # limit). Upon nominations being completed, a committee reviews the nominees. Very seldom do MT players get selected to this game. I think they only select 24 players nationally each for boys and girls. I know Jos Tinkle was selected. I believe Tres will likely be selected. Basically to have a chance at selected, a player has to be rated in the top 50 nationally. The chances are pretty slim after the nominations are done.

492 nominees from across the US, only 24 will be selected for the actual game.
Tres has a good shot to actually play in the game.
