This ESPN+ contract is unfair to older people

I mean - my parents are almost 90. They live on the HiLine - don't have a Smart TV - don't do the internet - don't do the bars - love the Griz - and the closest kid is 6 hours away.

Wish it were easier to watch the games. They do have cable but no way to watch the game.

I remember the good ol' days when the Griz and Cat games were broadcast for free throughout the state.

And everyone out of state couldn’t watch any of them.

Sounds to me as though there are multiple options available to them, they (you) are just unwilling to take advantage of them.

Hope your parents are well. It’s an accomplishment to reach 90.

I’m out of state and saw EVERY local broadcast.

Jesus Christ. Do they also refuse a telephone?! Maybe just listen to it on the radio if unwilling to join the 21st century, either that or pony up and get them squared away with something to watch the game. It’s not complicated at all

I’ll try and be a little less rude here.

The rest of the games, I believe, are broadcast over the air on local channels. With the exception of sac state, which they need a cable package for on ESPN 2. So I would think if they can get the broadcast through Great Falls of on the hi-line, I think…

So, maybe they need a good antenna for over the air? But if they have cable I would think they can get the game anyway?

I hear you that the kids are all too far away but, if necessary, maybe someone fits them a good, light laptop with a big screen (Costco has a good HP 17” for $499 right now) and an ESPN+ subscription for a year, get it all dialed-in. And set an actual icon on the desktop that gets them right to “watch ESPN.” You can even put on something like google Remote Desktop or the free version of TeamViewer so you can dial into them on game day and get it goi g for them yourself in about 5 minutes or less.

I help quite a few older folks this way. I know the struggle, but it is doable.

I realize this is a “let them eat cake” situation but just trying to give you some options!

It’s as easy as it’s every been! I swear people would bitch if all our games were national broadcasts

Oh, it’ll happen for the sac game. People who cut cable will be all pissed because they can’t watch something broadcast on cable.

We have satellite and a smart tv, and I live in trepidation every time of being able to find a game that has to be streamed. It may seem "easy" to many of you, but there are those of us who feel exactly the opposite.

You can also get ESPN+ on your phone, buy a smart TV for about $275 at Walmart and cast the game to the TV. It’s what I do at the lake. Literally the only thing I have to do is change the input on the TV to HDMI-2 and hit the “cast” button in the upper right hand corner of the game on my phone. Easy peasy.

That’s what I do for some EPL games on Peacock+. Yeah, take your shots, but I watch EPL with my daughter in the mornings and I cook bacon for us that the other two sleepy heads don’t get.

Yet another family is torn asunder by big bacon.

I used to buy them Jimmy Deans, but that’s another story.

You don’t need ESPN+ to watch the game today. Just watch it on your local CBS station. ESPN+ is mainly for people located outside Montana

If they have Verizon smart phones, they can get ESPN + through the app.

That is some sage advice and I shall be looking into it! Thank you!

I'm not in the flower of my youth. Does this mean I can sue for damages, assumed or real? With the speed of the legal system, I'll probably not live to see a judgment, so I guess it doesn't matter.

Thanks for the kind advice.

Hey, my Grandparents had a Party Line and an Outhouse.

Feel free to opine on how stupid they were too...
