Have to say the shit sandwich comment really doesn't ring true. We lose starters every year to graduation or for whatever reason. We were still a playoff team with freshman Bergquist & Washington as our starting QB. The talent is there to be a playoff team, but the coaching is not. Yeah the situation obviously isn't perfect for an awesome run at the NC, but there was a LOT of returning talent this year. Remember the phrase we don't rebuild, we reload? Well that still is true.

So I don't see this as Delaney was handed a shit sandwich, I see it as he was handed a fairly tasty sandwich, and then promptly dropped it into a pile of dog shit, picked it back up, and tried to hand it to us.

We should at least be 5-2 right now without the amazingly horrible coaching decisions & lack of 2nd half adjustments that have been going on this year. We could very well be 6-1. Instead we sit here at 3-4 and debate things like why we kicked off both halves in a game, why our punt coverage team was instructed to play 5 yards off the LOS when SUU needed 2 yards, why we have the worst clock management I've ever seen, why we go in a shell and away from what's working as soon as we get a lead (with expected results) and dozens of other WTF moments we've seen this year.

This isn't your father's BSC. 8-)

The king of one liners that says really nothing strikes again :P

Someone should tell Mick that... and also let him know that other teams do try fake punts occasionally, and don't give up immediately when they are behind. Other coaches seem to understand that you play the full 4 quarters. Other coaches seem to understand that you make halftime adjustments. Ours...well... I guess they are still learning that basic part of coaching.

Seriously though... are you happy with our team being instructed to drop back 5 yards in an obvious fake punt situation where the other team only needs 2?
Are you happy that we kicked off to begin both halves against UNC?
Are you happy that every time we get a lead our coaching staff goes ultra conservative and lets the other team start creeping back into the game?
Are you happy with the clock management that's been exhibited?

Sorry, can't blame those on the players... that my friend is squarely on the coaching staff. Those are just a few of the many major issues right now with this coaching staff.
What makes this even worse is..... If we'd actually been prepared for a possible fake then maybe they do punt the ball..... Yet any... and I mean ANY punter who is back and sees the defensive formation we called........ They would have the green light to pull a fake all on their own.
So for all we know we coached SUU into an extended drive...... Much as we coached UNC into an additional possession with our two opening half kick-offs......
And I'm sorry........ Nguyen cannot be allowed to field punts..... He's had three years to prove he's incapable of doing so...

Yep. Coaches will give the green light to punters if they see an obvious opening to get the first down. Hauck did that too. I had a very good view of what the punter was seeing, and I'm pretty damn sure anyone who was capable of even walking at a semi-brisk pace could have run (or walked quickly) for a first down it was so wide open.

I'm sorry my posting style doesn't meet your expectations. Not being happy with the team's performance manifests itself differently in diferent people....you're exhibit A for that. Here's a tip: sometimes, less is more. :thumb:

Do you write bumper stickers for a living? When your entire argument can be summed up in one line, it's probably time to rethink your argument and whether or not you have anything to back it up with :)

You really didn't answer the question either, are you happy with the major issues I mentioned with our coaching, or is that somehow the players fault too?

Subtelty sometimes goes unnoticed. You're as subtle as a brick. 8-)

I find it's easier to communicate with other fans if you back up what you are saying with facts and examples. It also helps if rather than relying on subtlety you state your opinion so there's no doubt what you think. Being blunt isn't always a bad thing :P

In the future when replying to you I'll try to communicate in cliches for your benefit :thumb:

You seem to get madder than a wet hen when someone points out a chain is only as strong as the weakest link when talking about our coaching staff. Unfortunately you seem to have your head buried in the sand and are unable to see the handwriting on the wall that this coaching staff is a dime short, a day late and has the team headed the wrong way.

I realize hindsight is always 20/20, and you think we all just see the glass as half empty, but I think many of us are right on the money. Our team's back is up against a wall right now, and we are in a do or die situation every game the rest of this season. So don't get your knickers in a twist and shoot the messenger when we are just trying to point out that this coaching staff isn't cutting the mustard.

There... that post should be right up your alley. ;)

2 blocked FG's
1 fumble on our own 7
2 shitty calls sustaining a momentum-turning SUU drive
1 fake punt
Harris hurt
Gratton hurt
Moore out indefinitely
Hermanson out (Rominger played the entire game, I believe)
Countless freshmen and RS freshmen being counted on in critical positions/situations

Can't believe how many chicken-littles want to throw the baby out with the bath water

AND, the SUU QB played really, really well. SUU used to be a doormat. They have improved dramatically in the past couple of years.
