Thinking Seeding

wait to see the result of the pac-10. We could see az or UW in Boise for the sake of regional interest. We are a reasonable #15. Exceptt hat we will get hosed and see a 1 most likely and CBS will show 10 minutes of the game, unless we jump out to a lead.

At least some of the upsets have moved us out of the play-in game picture... thank you Oakland(MI). And I know you are all going to say, "We would never have gotten the play-in draw. But I heard it from several prognosticators. so don't bother saying it, anything is possible.

TRUTH:

"Play-in", 16 seed, 15 seed....if you are one of these teams...you have similar odds to winning lotto, as you do in adding another "W" to your season.

I think the Griz will be a 16 maybe a 15 because of the respect for the coaching staff, and the program's prior appearances....that being said.

It's a one and done type weekend,,,,, but it won;t stop me from cheering them on.

Nice "W" tonight though boys...I was very proud, and like the future of this program.

Go Griz

Illinois will be the number one seed overall, right? The winner of the play-in game always plays the number one. So if the griz are indeed situated above the play-in game thanks to those upsets then they would not play Illinois.

North Carolina maybe? They had bad luck with the Big Sky in the tournament before.

Mung...
This year the winner of the play-in game won't be playing Illinois for a combination of reasons which i've heard so much over the past few days on espn i know my facts are right:

Assuming Illinois stays #1 overall, they'll get the #1 seed in the Indianapolis bracket due to regionalization. This bracket is set as a "thursday-saturday" bracket meaning the 1st two rounds take place on those days. The play-in game is next tuesday and the tournament committee has decided that the play-in game's winner will be placed as a #16 seed in a "friday-sunday" bracket, making it impossible for a Illinois-Play-in winner matchup. So, the so-called experts on these bracket predictions say that the play-in winner will most likely play North Carolina (assuming nothing changes there), and Illinois would play the #63 team (which could be us, but I'm guessing not).

Thats the situation in a nutshell; hope that helped!

Thanks Christo

Maybe the play-in game would have been a good thing assuming the UNC as #2 prediction holds. Not that UI or UNC are incapable of doing seroious damage to the griz, but the griz did almost beat a team (Santa Clara) that beat UNC, so...

Personnally, I would like to see Griz take on a #1 seed. If there is going to be an upset, upsetting a #1 seed is more memorable and exciting than upsetting a #2 seed. So, #16 seed would not dissappoint me at all.

Boise State (231) upset #1 seed Nevada tonight in the WAC. They've got Fresno State in the semifinal. Boise State split with the Bulldogs this season, losing 89-82 @ Fresno, and winning 82-68 in Boise.

Let's go Broncos!

Whatever seed we get, we're going to be playing one of the top 8 or so teams in the country.....it'll be cool for our guys to get that opportunity and it'll be fun for us to watch :)

I'll predict that we get a 15 seed and we'll play Boston College....thats me just pulling something out of my you-know-what, but i thought i'd throw something on the table.

Hey RAT, lets hear your prediction, Mr. Know it All!

Think seeding? You better believe I am. I pulled my John Deere 8970 out of the shed Wednesday. Today I am servicing the Flexicoil 3450 air cart and will hook it up to my 57' air drill.

:o :o Now that we are on a topic where I have some understanding I would advise you to think only until after thursday and friday the 17th and 18 th. Frost does not go out of the ground in a normal year until first week in april. As we used to say in a normal year: "Can not dance and it is too wet to plow." This year we get to dance and then it will be soon enough to plow. It is possible that you have a little to much invested in machinery?. :o :o

One thing to be aware of is that the 'Sky has been shafted even when given higher than 16 seeds. Consider Weber, which got a 12 seed in 2003, only to play Big 10 champ Wisconson in the first round (which should have been higher seed).
Despite what the naysayers proclaim, Montana and the 'Sky still have enough respect to avoid the 16 seed. Montana has a lot more fans (based on attendence) than most of the league champions, and so it might be to the advantage of the NCAA to give the Griz a slightly higher school rather than risk the wrath of Griz nation.
