The way forward

Here is the Truth. The university can't afford anyone better at coach or AD. Firing what we got most likely means going even farther backward not forward. Truth is this is the peak we are going to reach most likely.
The board of regent seems to give the cats whatever they need for a coach. Why shouldn’t it be the same for us?

so what’s your answer? Just give up? Make no changes and let the rot continue?

Bias, the rivalry runs through the board and the political offices. They are mostly Cat fans and the bias and disparity has been there for about 10 years.

Find a way to focus on fundraising for the university until such a time that it can afford what it needs and in the mean time try to sustain the status quo / stem the bleed. Look all am saying is this you go scorched earth and hire all new people, you have a 10 percent chance that works out maybe and that's being very generous. You are not going to get some well proven coach or super AD here. More likely to end up another Stitt situation. The program will then recede not advance and it just becomes a death cycle, happens to programs all the time. Why they hired Bobby back to start with. From 2011 to end of Stitts turn the program was falling apart. Bobby really was brought back because he was a known quantity. And it worked to do that. Griz are pretty close to where they were under Bobby the first time. Vigen makes more than Bobby base and in incentives and Bobbies contract is near max already. So you are looking at limited pool of candidates and most likely have to take a Gamble on an unknown. Truth is that there is no quick fix this will take time maybe a decade maybe more. Really it took over ten years for the Cats to climb where they are now. Its going to take UM that long maybe more as well. Fundraising needs to become the major focus. The new age of College sports.

Substantiate. What have the cats asked the regents for?
They somehow allowed the cats to start a business school. I am sure other posters can provide more examples. I am pretty sure that the board of regents dictate coach salaries and Vigen makes 40k+ base salary along with a potential to earn ~150k more than Hauck. Why should one school receive more funding for paying coaches than the other? Both are in the top 4 nationally.

But the Haslam era of grizzly athletics coincides with one of the worst eras in school history that saw a complete ascendency of our rivals.
Either you are very young or dismiss history, because this statement is as far off as it can be. Most of us have experienced eras so much less successful. Records less than .500, near league doormats, no respect. You really should check some records before you make such outlandish statements. Idaho was our rival in the 80's and you claim they have completely ascended us? Montana is the defending BSC BBall champ and will likely finish in the top 4 nationally in football. You come off as seriously spoiled brat. Whine all you want but at least make an effort to keep your claims accurate.

Haslam has admirably kept the AD funded within a university in serious financial straits. That is not easy work. You do not know as much as you think you do about him holding coaches accountable.

The most disturbing aspect of the contract is that they get paid extra for scheduling more games or against FBS schools, with little consideration for how that affects the athlete's health.

This just popped in my head, so does Ah Yat have to battle for the starting job next year since Bobby has his rule of winning your job each year.
It is absolutely possible…even likely…with the season he just had that FBS teams are looking to offer Ah Yat significantly more NIL money to leave and he won’t have to worry about Bobby’s rules.

Both schools incentivize home games too, and Vigen's contract is structured so that playing a P5 school is more incentivized than playing a G5 school. Hauck's contract does not differentiate between the two.

I think they pay MSU for the FBS games because of the exposure, especially against P4 teams. Regardless of the result its advertising your school and getting them talked about to a larger TV audience potentially on a big Network. Despite getting boat raced by Oregon hearing "they're a top FCS, they could win an NC on FCS" etc. is a good thing
