...and Clark's Columbia Gardens, his only tangible gift to Butte America and MT, wound up being swallowed up by the Berkeley Pit. (I'd call that irony but All-Weather would insist that it was only a coincidence)

Less ironic than just f'in sad. Greed took the one truly beautiful part of Butte away.

Truly beautiful and Butte are difficult to associate...

Well they will bleed you a little on the earnings if you don't give it away to charity. And they will get a big chunk after you die if you decide to try to keep it in the family. There are ways to mitigate it but it usually involves giving it away or giving up control. Best thing is probably to spend all of it.

There are other examples of Clark family gifts; the notion that the Clarks just took and never gave is not true. Unfortunately, it is true that most of the Clark largesse missed MT, outside of Columbia Gardens, the Paul Clark Home in Butte, and quite a few history preservation projects.

The Clarks took from Montana and went to the high society coasts to play for a hundred years. They shat on MT, all they did was take and leave us with a stinking big mess. All of their money should be taken back and used to rehabilitate Butte and the Superfund.

How about we retroactively tax everybody for the $15+ trillion national debt? All those born before about 1994 have helped to spend it. So, shouldn't they/we help to pay it back instead of those born after about 1994?

Just sayin' since we are discussing asking the Clarks for the state's money back.
