The Ship be Sinking....NOT

In my humble opinion, and I’m no expert but I saw improvement from Thursday to today. I thought the spacing was better and the shot selection was better but deficiencies came back to bite them particularly rebounding on both ends of the court. Again, without looking at the stats I think overall we’re moving in the right direction. And give Southern Utah credit, they were quicker to the ball and they have recruited some good outside shooters. I think we played more aggressive on both ends today. The offensive rebounds had a lot to do with long boards which they were in a better position to get. The basic premise of rebounding is to make sure you blockout your man. Having said that I thought the officiating was better, until the final 1.3 seconds. And that was a bullshit call. The officials should not decide the game period. To be honest I did not have a good view of the call but my recollection was they were both going for the ball and unless it was an aggressive foul it should not have been called. On the other hand you do not give up an 8 point lead with under 4 to play is unforgivable.

It appeared as if in loose ball situations griz players flailed around while SUU guys got right to ball andgenerally won every scramble for the ball

It takes a while to learn to play ball with one another & I remember a coach telling us in High School that you have a 10 point disadvantage when playing as a visitor. He also took a ladder and took 2 basketballs & showed us they both side by side would fit through the hoop. I believe it or not became a better shooter after that day. Thanks Mr. Kinzer
