The curious case as to why Vigen and Hauck's staffs have no interest in moving up.

Vigen spent from 1998 to 2013 coaching at North Dakota State where he was a key to building that dynasty. He then moved up to the FBS as the Wyoming OC 2014 to 2020. Now he's the head coach for a very successful FCS program since 2021 and appears ready to take the next step, but hasn't.

Vigen's pay is just over $500k ($295 base + bonuses). For comparison, Jason Eck left Idaho last year for New Mexico where he makes $1.75M. And Eck was very successful leading the Lobos to a 9-3 season and will be getting a P4 offer very soon.

Jay Hill was the HC for Weber State during their competitive days. Took the BYU DC job in 2022 for $1.35M and now makes $2M there. Like Eck, he's also positioned to take a P4 HC job.

Dan Mullens makes $3.5M a year at UNLV and is winning enough to get back into the P4 ranks. Point is there is real money and success at the FBS.

Why Vigen, not even a Montana guy, is still sticking around is baffling. Also troubling is why nobody is poaching any of Bobby's coordinators. You'd think with as much winning as Montana has Bobby would be losing his assistants all the time.

Contrary to what hoops and taber spout on here there is zero interest for Hauck and co. Bradford was great and the reason why this defense was more successful when he was here. Hauck is a good FCS coach and that’s it. Pease is too old and the defense is very average. Who jumps out on this staff to you they should be getting looks? No clue about Vigen, but he has interest.

If the Cats win the title, Vigen will make almost $900,000. Look it up; Gogola wrote an article on it. While it’s not FBS money, it’s not a pittance either.

I think some big money boosters made sure it was in Vigen’s best interest to stay. So much money around that program right now.

Why would Vigen move up when he's beating Montana for in-state recruits, destroys the Grizzlies in Bozeman every time, beats the Griz in WAGriz, and has a shot at the National Championship every year.

This.

Griz had one good coordinator under 2.0 and he left his name was Bradford. Others are ones that have been let go by FBS teams for a reason.

Because he's an NDSU acolyte and they all move up when they can.

The reason why vigen hasn’t left is because MSU is swimming in money right now. The campus itself is building 2 new halls. The Vim hotel on campus. And about to build a super nice stadium. The school and program is growing so much with vigen there they will do anything to keep. The AD Leon Costello is doing a great job keeping him there as well
