The CB Position

1 Markell Sanders R-Jr. CB 6-2 185
2 Ryan McKinley R-Sr. CB 6-1 199
7 Dareon Nash R-Fr. CB 6-2 170
26 Josh Egbo R-Fr. CB 6-2 185
27 Lewis Cowans R-Fr. CB 6-1 187

BIG and talented group but the obvious points are inexperience and lack of depth. We are 1 or 2 injuries away from a disaster. I really like the potential of the young kids. Egbo is the closest thing, physically to Tru that we've seen at the position since he left. I feel that he is our next NFL draft pick at CB. Cowans hasn't received the hype that he did as a True Frosh on scout team and a strong spring by Dareon Nash could have passed him up??? These two are major X factors in my opinion. They need to be playing at a starter-level. They are both extremely talented and the coaches lack of interests in recruiting CB's the past two seasons lends me to believing they are ready to go. Would love to fit a Houston Roots/Keith Thompson type JUCO transfer in there to add depth. Seems as though the coaches are taking a huge gamble if they don't add depth at this position. Outside of that concern I am very excited about his group going forwar. :thumb:

Those 3 freshmen are going to feast on Big Sky QB's for the next 4 years.

Aside from their physical attributes, they also seem to really take ownership in the secondary, and play with swagger out there.

The problem with JUCO CB transfers in particular is it seems to take them a full season to adjust to the speed.

100% agree with this and I'm typically not a fan of JUCO's period. I love how Stitt likes to redshirt everyone and seems intent on developing 5 year talent. This particular situation I think calls for a JUCO for the sake of depth but lets hope they all stay healthy get tons of playing time and really develop. This is a special group in the making!

This is a position of concern due to depth. Still hard to believe no transfers have been brought in despite the very young talent at cb.

Senior Safety Korey Alexander has played the nickel and could play corner if needed. I believe there was a young safety they tried at corner during spring as well to add depth. Anybody remember who that was?

Oh thats right I forgot about Alexander. I do like him as a nickle and really like his special teams play. Was the safety Epperly?

Shane Moody could play also when in dire need. He's strong points were run coverage and the flats though so he's limited. Can Mike Ralston play corner? He's been about everywhere else.

Never say never with that young man. :thumb:
