The Big Sky Conference: Moving in the Right Direction?

Based on this weekend's games, it looks like the conference may be more competitive, top to bottom, than it's been in some time. Sure, Sac State's win was impressive, as was SUU's effort against Cal,* but maybe the most surprising result to me was UND at Portland State. I think our game in Grand Forks may be every bit as competitive as our game in Cheney.













*I don't mean to slight NAU's vistory over UNLV. Wait, maybe I do. :)
 
I saying, hell I am double saying we mash Eastern Wa at the ugly Red field........Field?

Improvement is grand. Some teams improve some get lost, Griz will be cookin and on fire.

Count it!
 
Hell ya we're moving in the right direction. It's such a diverse and competitive conference now. Lots of different offensive and defensive philosophies across the board, which will better prepare us for the playoffs!
 
UND aside, I don't see many marked signs of improvement yet. I am wondering if Sac can take the autobid in a possible tie with Montana at the end of the year, since the schools don't play. Sac gets UND and MSU at home and EWU on the road, which is looking favorable at the moment.
 
I would be highly surprised if anyone ran the table this year. Too many good teams in the conference. Seems like we (and everyone else) always have a bad game every year too. It will also be interesting to see how key injuries take their toll on teams down the stretch. I do think the BSC could be more than a 3 team race this year. This is a good thing.

For me the best BSC football was in the late 80's through the mid 90's, before the exodus, when the league was so competitive. Idaho, Nevada, Boise State & Montana each had legit shots at the BSC crown and it was a pure slugfest. Hopefully we can return to those days again.

Yes it is moving in the right direction, further away from the WAC. At least the BSC will still compete in football next year.

Too early to tell. But the road ahead has a roadkill in the middle called Idaho. I would drive around that one.

UND looks like they're for real. At least their passing offense. That game worries me more than any other game on the remaining schedule.
