The 2014 Grizzlies

We will miss Bienemann and Coyle. They brought attitude but our secondary should be a lot better.

Other than that not many holes to fill as we get most of our skill players back and lose some much needed weight on the defense.

it's was stated somewhere earlier but our wideouts are gonna be absolutely unreal, an we will have Canada back and JJ. Only negative thing about next year is young online and bad coaches..

Will have 3 new starters on the OL, probably all interior, I'm guessing Poole moves to take Kistler's spot so we've got our two tackles in place. Weyer appears to be the heir-apparent at center. That leaves guard. Hines got a lot of reps there this year, we've also got Kalekini, Todd, and I think Deitrich. Good talent but will need a few kids to step up.

Skill on offense should be insane. Only losing Warren, Pierson, and Miles - that returns a ton of talent.

D-line will need a new vocal leader, losing Bienemann really stings, but they've got the guys there that should step up between Kidder, Rehm, Ginn, and Takai. Safety opposite of Hermey I assume will be a wide-open battle. I think corner will be in good hands with two very experienced corners in Dennard and Harris, also Anderson and Nelson will be ready for much more playing time. LB... will be thin, all new guys, not a lot of depth. Biggest worry I have right now.

Gonna be a Great season! Do you guys think the Griz will go down and punch Wyoming in the mouth and take their lunch money?

Im thinking the same thing. But beings that things will be new all around I can't help but wonder what the chances might be.

I'll echo kind of what Brint already said. Probably the biggest concern is replacing Poehls, Oiland, and Kistler. I agree that Poole will probably slide over to his more natural position. Hopefully the young guys can step up in the interior.

We lose some very talented players at linebacker and it kind of hurts losing all 3 of those guys at once, but I'm really not as concerned about that. I like the young guy's potential we have coming in. Even if they aren't as physically gifted, hopefully they will have enough to get to the ball and wrap up. I'm hoping Gregorak keeps it simple for them and doesn't do all this cutsy stuff like he did with Tripp.

Bienemann will be more of a loss from a leadership standpoint. I really like the depth we have at DT and DE.

Hopefully someone from our stable of kickers takes the initiative to become a consistent FG asset from at least 40 yards out.

They need a transfer MLB and corner on D, otherwise they should be pretty stacked. I am, however, excited to see the young corners who redshirted this fall. There might be some good young talent there. Maybe one or more of those guys will be ready to step up and contribute.

It will be good for the oline to have another offseason to implement the new offense. I don't think it will be as big of a step back as I think at oline. My biggest concern is the LBs and like Alpha said losing a lot of weight. The way it looks now is we will be able to really fly around but stuffing the run may be tough. Skill positions will be lights out next year though. The offense should be one of the best int he Big sky.

From the looks of it, this could be a strong team. Any thoughts?

The opening schedule is going to be brutal and they will once again have their hands full in the Big Sky. It would not surprise me if they fail to win the conference title and miss the playoffs at this point. I have absolutely no faith in the coaching staff whatsoever and the Griz lose what was considered their main strength in a defense that was constantly exposed against high powered offenses and even lesser ones like NAU.

Hope I am wrong but even if the Griz make the playoffs I don't expect much more than a one and done with these coaches. Like the D-bags at Sports Network said in their write up about the game...it's just not the Grizzies of old.

Every year it looks bleak when you talley up the senior starters that will be gone, but we reload and there is always a bunch of new talent coming up. It's great to have the offense coming back. As always, a few drop-down transfers in key spots like LB, DL , OL or kicker could make a huge difference in next year's team. Time to hit the recruiting trail coaches !

The biggest concern should be on finding a kicker that can actually kick a field goal and extra point. May be time to offer a legit recruit a scholarship or hope a good transfer emerges. Should probably tell the current kickers they tried their best but it's time to focus on academics or may be give soccer a shot because your days of playing college football are behind you.

It's gonna be hard to replace the linebackers... but I feel confident in some of the new comers like Connor Strahm, Tucker Shy, Herbert Gamboa (recently moved to outside backer).

When I Think about key returning starters... JJ, Canada, Van, Ellis, Jamal Jones, Taylor Wolcott(injured early), Poole, Kidder, Wags, Tyrone Holmes, Hermanson, Nate Harris, and Josh Dennard. While many of these guys haven't been complete stars they all have at least a year or two experience. :thumb:

2014 Griz have a great opportunity to beat some strong teams but there is also the opportunity to go 8-4 or even 7-5.

Speaking of 2014, could someone post the schedule again? I remember NDSU followed by Wyoming. It gets fuzzy after that. Is there still an open date...maybe a spot to plug in the chanticleer?

Does anyone else think that Tucker Shye will get a lot of playing time next year?

I am hearing this guy is a beast so I hope so. Saw he got the team ward for scout defensive MVP. Excited to see what he will become. In the shrine game or mon-dak game he was a man amongst boys.

I would have to guess with all the new changes at Wyoming and NDSU the Griz should have a decent chance at a W. Especially with NDSU losing 24 seniors and gonna be under new coaches.
