Tate Forcier rumors

I watched the UMASS game live. Maybe, maybe we can blame the O line, I don't think so.

No way. Swogger was a leader who didn't disrupt the team... unlike Roper....

Can't deny that he wasn't a leader. He was hella good at overthrowing the ball though. I still have the tape, I can send it to you if you'd like. All those fireworks, for nothing *SIGH*.

There was something about Ochs....that guy just "had it".

Anyway, back to Forcier... don't want to hijack.

OK, Hammer. Honestly I thought the bowl eligibility was strange because no one with Michigan or Forcier ever said grades were the issue. Most schools have no problem saying grades are the cause for sitting a player. And Forcier had already traveled to the bowl site with the team before the news broke. You would think the team would know who could play before getting on the plane.
Michigan's academic policy might have been that a player not apply for enrollment at another school.
Regardless, let's hope Forcier can practice this spring. Otherwise we may again have a team trying to gel after the season begins.

Is the school also appealing the NCAA decision in declaring him ineligible?

That's pretty funny, but I think it was Michigan that decided Forcier couldn't play for school policy reasons. I don't think there's any indication the NCAA was involved.

It's a DONE deal. Just like when I broke the news about opening up at Tennessee, but got called everything but white by all the know it all's on this board. I expect the same this time.

Forcier is a Griz.

I posted the same a couple weeks ago and got ripped. We can have the last laugh....again! :thumb:

FTR, I'm in no way ripping Hammer or GB1, and yes, you both have good intel, and you always have, but I'm hearing the exact opposite of Forcier coming here. If I'm wrong, Ill be very glad because obviously, I think he, or someone with his experience and skill set would be the best option for the Griz at QB1 the next two years.

All I can tell you is the people who have told me know a lot more than I do. I have been wrong before, but if I were a professional baseball player I would own all the records with a better than a 98% on base percentage. :thumb:

Since I started this thread I will gladly take credit for being the credible news source here, haha. By the way I have zero knowledge if he is actually coming to Montana or anything. I was just wishing because I think he'd be a pretty good fit for the offense; hes a gamer. I remember him making some big plays under pressure when he was just a Frosh. Don't know enough about him to comment on his character though.

Hammer, GB1, can either of you speak to AD concerns about his character? I mean is he the kind of guy we'd WANT on the team or are there red flags about the kind of thing that led to disruption, a la Roper, allegedly?

first, just because i know all the replies that i'll get for being a cat fan let me say that if you landed a guy like forcier (which i think you are going to) he'd fit in the system i think you're trying to run. he's a playmaker plain as that. if he wasn't he wouldn't have been offered scholarships just about everywhere...

which brings me to the negative. he has always seemed like a "look at me" kind of kid. he's the same dude who made noise by starting a website and posting all of his scholarship offer letters from schools on it! so when he was offered by cal....it was on the site. oregon...same thing. all in all i think he posted more than thirty of these letters from coaches on this site which was pretty tasteless in my opinion.

he also was the kid that transferred high schools several times. i know not all situations are the same but when kids do this it at least warrants some attention. many times it is a case of a kid feeling he is owed more than the coach is giving him. in his case he transferred to a school that didn't even have a football team so he could basically pick where he wanted to go. again...nothing wrong with that but sometimes it shows the characcter of a person and occasionally a sense of entitlement.

i admit i'm also basing my thoughts on him and the fact that he comes from a line of brothers who couldn't seem to get along with their coaches and ended up transferring. combine that with the fact that his grades suffered this year and he got sent home from their bowl game and i would certainly think that there are character issues involved.

all that said...sometimes a change of scenery is all you need. and as cheesey as it sounds sometimes the beauty of montana just has a way of mellowing people out and giving them some perspective. the griz are a strong program in a great community in a beautiful state. your fan support is key and there is no reason to think that if he comes to montana he can't be successful on the field for sure....and hopefully off of it.

All this says is he is a competitor, wants to be a leader, and wants to win. This debate is stupid. If Roper had off the field problems that had nothing to do with success on the field. The fact that he couldn't scramble, throw accurately, and read routes was the problem. Forcier does not and will not have these problems.

Oh and to hedge your shody leader arguments. Leaders can come from any position doesn't have to be quarterback, there is a lot of qbs on winning teams that are not vocal.
