Tate Forcier rumors

Forcier may be a very talented young man on the football field, but I don't think Montana needs his ego or his neediness. JMHO.

Looks as though this may be picking up steam:

Early indications suggest quarterback Tate Forcier will not be returning to Michigan for his junior season, according to WDFN-AM's Ryan Ermanni.

Ermanni reports Forcier, who was declared academically ineligible for the Gator Bowl on New Year's Day, did not attend Tuesday's team meeting and is currently not enrolled in winter semester classes. There is no official deadline for enrollment, according to the university's registrar's office -- although Jan. 25 is the final date to add classes.

Michigan athletic director David Brandon confirmed during Wednesday's press conference introducing newly-hired coach Brady Hoke that Forcier is no longer with the program.

Brandon declined to provide specifics or comment on whether Forcier will return to the program.

"There are certain limitations for what I can talk about," Brandon said.

Michigan running back Mike Cox told the Michigan Daily that "he didn't think" Forcier attended the team meeting amid unconfirmed message board speculation Forcier is transferring to the University of Montana.News of Forcier's possible transfer comes less than a day after Hoke was hired as the new Michigan football coach. Hoke was introduced as the Wolverines coach in a news conference Wednesday afternoon.

Michigan announced that it declared Forcier ineligible two days prior to the Gator Bowl for not meeting university standards. Forcier told the Detroit Free Press that he had struggled academically, which likely forced him to miss summer workouts.

"I was behind in school, a lot of people don't know. I had to catch up on credits to be eligible. It's what I did in the summer. That didn't come out," Forcier told the Free Press. "Oh, I wasn't going to workouts. But that helped me, too. That made me realize you're not going to be good just getting by."

Forcier reportedly needed to pass 14 credits in the fall semester to remain eligible. Fall grades were released in early January. He had previously indicated his intention to transfer, but said last month that he didn't "see myself being anywhere else," the Free Press reported.

Forcier started all 12 games as a freshman but was bypassed as this year's starter by sophomore quarterback Denard Robinson. Forcier played in eight games this past season, throwing for 597 yards and four touchdowns while Robinson was sidelined with multiple injuries.

Robinson, who has been quiet regarding his future with Michigan, is expected to meet with Hoke today. Following Michigan's loss to Mississippi State on Jan. 1, Robinson was asked by The Detroit News if he planned to return for his junior season if Rich Rodriguez was fired.

"No response," Robinson was quoted by The Detroit News.

Freshman quarterback Devin Gardner, who has petitioned for a medical redshirt, is expected to return next season for the Wolverines.

He's a great talent, but I have concerns about his work ethic, both on the team and in the classroom.

He's gone, received his release from Michigan. My source back there is pissed because he let the team down and says he doesn't give sht where he goes.
I also won't hear anything more from Ann Arbor about Forcier unless it's third hand.

"While the door is open for a Robinson return, there doesn’t appear to be a chance to salvage the U-M career of Tate Forcier. Athletic director David Brandon confirmed this afternoon that the backup QB — and 2009 starter — is not a member of the team at this time. Forcier had been suspended for the Gator Bowl due to academic issues, and he’s currently not enrolled in classes this semester.

The speculation making the rounds is that Forcier will ultimately transfer to Montana to continue his collegiate career."

Now that Forcier has officially left Michigan I would be very surprised if he didn't sign with some FCS school. I don't think he wants to sit out for a year so I would have to think thats his best option. He would be phenomenal in that new spread offense.

I don't wanna get my hopes up because it still may not happen, but this is exactly what the griz need. All those people that had credible sources saying he wouldn't come here don't look so smart now.

I think the only piece missing here... is... has anyone seen anything, anywhere, that even hinted that he was interested in UM? I saw the blurb about "Internet Message Boards" rumoring about a possible transfer to Montana... which makes sense, since someone started this post on here about that!!!

Heck, maybe whoever ended up starting this rumor will actually have made it hapen if it does. Self-fulfilling prophecy.

Big question if he comes to UM is will he be able to participate in spring drills? With the academic issues he may be inelibible from what some have written. Does anyone know for sure about that one way or the other. Not being able to practice in the Spring would be a big negative.

Also, with the ego and grade issues it might not be the best move for team chemistry.

There does seem to be a lot of negative talk swirling around about this guy. Doesn't sound like the sharpest tool in the shed that's for sure. Maybe J.Johnson is our man.

Im not sure Foucier is going to be a Griz... but if you watch his highlights, he is PERFECT for the O that UM is trying to run!!!!

More speculation from Michigan...

Buddy of mine that knows the family just told me he's going to Montana.

I assume know one on here knows whether or not he will be eligible for spring if he does transfer...

I'm not sure I'd want him if he wasn't on campus for spring ball.

I'd assume you need some help with the word know.
