Tale of Two Schedules

In typical Big Sky "shit show" fashion, you have to see the scheduling difference between some teams. This year, its Cal Poly who can practically fall asleep and wake up in the playoffs while teams like PSU and EWU have a brutal schedule. Check out the difference:

EWU Schedule

Texas Tech
NDSU
Fordham
UM
Sac St
UC Davis
MSU
SUU
Weber St
North Dakota
PSU

PSU Schedule

BYU
Oregon St
UC Davis
UM
MSU
NAU
Idaho St
North Dakota
Cal Poly
Weber St
EWU

Cal Poly Schedule (or lack there of)

Colgate
San Jose St
UNI
NAU
Idaho St
SUU
Weber St
UC Davis
PSU
Sac St

In poly's defense, Uni is usually a very tough team when this game was scheduled they were very good. colgate is a playoff team. As far as the BSC teams they play it sucks we have a unbalanced schedule.

They have to change that and make it more "round robin" type scheduling. I loved the idea based on records that was brought up last year some time. Difficult to do...but would certainly be helpful

Maybe the schools need to schedule more games within their conference. I mean, everyone plays everyone. Make a longer season?

The NCCAA limits the number of games that can be played in a season to 11 or 12. The BSC simply can't extend the season -- nor should they given that a team that makes the NC will have played 15 or 16 games in a year. When the Griz were regularly going deep in the playoffs they played 4 years worth of games every 3 years. While that is great for experience it takes a significant toll on the student athletes.

Something definitely needs to give. I think it's asinine that UND could waltz through their Conf schedule last year and win the conference and Cal poly will have just as good of a chance to do that this year and then both of those teams will get bounced in the first round. We saw that last year with UND already. I mean the difference between conference scheduling is big

Maybe when the big sky coaches get together in the spring and decide where teams rank in the division, ie Griz #6 is when they could make the schedule and have all the top 5 or 6 teams play each other along with four lower teams.

And they get the two year affect of being over hyped based off a pathetic schedule..than come into this year ranked favorably.

The proof will be in the games this year for the ole F Hawks

With ND gone
PSU EWU Idaho UM MSU ISU Weber- Big Sky North
CP Sac Davis San Diego NAU SUU NCU- Big Sky South
Seven conf. games North/South championship-two teams play 11 game schedule the rest play 10

Western FCS teams accounted for three non conf. games one division may be stronger, but champion settled on the field.

NCAA doesn't allow FCS conference championship games and playoff participation.
