This being early in the season, I didn’t do a fancy “Poll Guesses” projection. However, I did take a quick look and see many things I thought would happen, plus a few surprises.

I figured the pollsters would reward UIW for their FBS upset, and they did … and one higher than I thought. But they didn’t reward Weber nearly as much as I expected, given how they dominated Utah State. Holy Cross got a small bump for their upset of Buffalo … about what I expected. They also rewarded Eastern Kentucky by moving them into the top-25, and slotted them in a bit higher than I expected.

On the other hand, they hammered East Tennessee down way more than I thought they would. (But I can’t really argue with that.)

And Hallelujah! they dropped Northern Iowa out of the top-25. I thought they should, but – given past history – was not sure they would. That, as I thought would happen, got North Dakota in, although not quite as high as I expected.

Not sure what’s keeping Stephen F. Austin in the top-25. Looks like they play an NAIA team next, so that should help stop the bleeding.

Sam Herder told Riley that SDSU had more NFL prospects on its roster than any team in FCS, including Herder's Bison.

Until Herder changes his tune, voters who simply cover their home team and defer to Herder on everything else, will continue voting for SDSU.

If the Griz lose, look out below!
