State of Montana Football

Well-known member
I've read all of the threads and media coverage since the firings, and these are my thoughts.

Despite all of the current nonsense:
- whether you agree or disagree with how/why the firings took place
- the backlash about BIG DONORS withholding contributions
- the guilt/innocence(more importantly the health of potential victims) of the young men in the spotlight
- the general state of moral turpitude in college athletics and our culture as a whole...

It is going to be a great year for Griz Football!!!

We have:
- a proven coach, who knows Griz Football, taking the reigns.
- a bunch of high achieving(both in the classroom and on the field), hard working young men that are
itching to show what Griz football is REALLY about.
- fired-up support of some of the best, most vocal and loyal fans of ANY sport at ANY level!!!
- new lights to play under
- (insert your two cents here)

I, for one, am more stoked for this football season than any other! Let the lawyers and administrators do THEIR JOB and figure out the legalites of this mess. I belong to GrizNation; I cannot wait to do
MY JOB as a fan and support our boys when they strap it up and GO TO WORK!!!

UP WITH MONTANA, BOYS!

p.s. Start another thread if all you have to respond with is negative and belittling.

It's Montana. We will be the best in the Big Sky no matter what(regardless of record) just like the past 17 years.

Adversity doesn't build character, it reveals it. I think those young men on the field are deailing with adversity and we will see how well they respond. I look for big things out of this team this season. We already had a strong nucleus returning mixed with youth. We have new coordinators mixed with an experienced coach from within the program. Combined with a strong work ethic, discipline and an "us vs the world" attitude this team could be special....in a good way.

Re "adversity": Well put, and often forgotten.

From Brint's report on the practices in the other thread, the Griz could be well on their way to the other points you made.

GO GRIZ!

I think this Coach Delaney quote from a Missoulian column:

says a lot-

"
One thing won’t change: The expectations.

"They shouldn’t," Delaney said. "We lost a bunch of guys, yeah, but my first year here with Bobby we lost 26 seniors. The talk around town was, ‘They’re going to be a year away.’ That was a 13-2 team."

Griz are just fine. Although the firings still piss me off once september hits the Griz will still be the Griz and win the conf, beat the kittys and make a deep playoff run. Can't wait to be in the stadium tomorrow night!
