Good question NL and I also wonder if Bohl will be the next Joe Glenn. Wyoming is not an easy place to recruit to. I hope the Griz kick the living shiitake out of Wyoming next year. Not sure it will happen, but it is as good a time as any to play them.
The Joe Glenn comparisons are completely crazy.
Craig Bohl recruited and coached two extremely good teams. 2006-2007 they were ranked #1 for good portions of both years, finished 10-1 in both years, and had 3 FBS wins, but good not compete for a championship, but were obviously championship caliber. The 2007 team piss pounded Central Michigan 44-14. Central Michigan was pretty good that year as they won the MAC. The 2007 team then went on to beat a Big 10 team in Minnesota. Those teams still has 3 players in the NFL from the defensive unit, Joe Mays (starter), Craig Dahl (has been a starter) and Ramon Humber. He also recruited and coached this current team which is possibly on their way to a third national championship. During his tenure, NDSU is 7-3 against FBS programs, including 4 wins over teams from BCS conferences.
Craig Bohl has tons of FBS experience and was a defensive coordinator for a national championship team.
Joe Glenn won 2 D2 titles, then took over a Grizz program filled with players that were not his and won 1 national championship. Joe Glenn had 0 FBS experience before moving to Wyoming.
Craig Bohl clearly has a more proven track record than Joe Glenn did before heading to Wyoming. NDSU's teams in 2006, 2007, 2011, 2012, and 2013 could have easily competed in a conference like the Mountain West. This 2013 team I would argue would win it, especially considering they are the 23rd ranked Football team in all of college football in Jeff Sagarin's poll. The highest ranked Mountain West team is currently sitting at 45th. Point is, he has already built teams at NDSU which could compete in the Mountain West with less resources than he has at Wyoming. To think he can't do the same thing at Wyoming is foolish.
