Great to see Blakney healthy. He is a difference maker for this team. :thumb:

He is a great addition!

Yes. Blakney still favors his shoulder & clearly tweaked it once at the mid-point of the second half. But he's got great frontcourt vision & good hands. If he can stay healthy, Montana's paint attack is multi-dimensional with him and Mac at post.

Idaho's has a 6'10" 260 lb. freshman from Spokane. Looked pretty good. Will be interesting to see how his career goes.

I wouldn't say Blakney's healthy, but I was happy to see him contribute and go off against his former team. If we can continue to get that kind of production from him moving forward, he'll provide a great 1-2 punch with Mack.

Did not see the Idaho game, however looking at highlights with Blakney he could be a difference maker. Appears he can fill void that we are missing, hope can stay healthy and gradually increase minutes up to postseason

Good start. Idaho is depleted due to Covid.
Abysmal student section (shocker), and small crowd (another shocker)
Are you unaware of how many people in Missoula have COVID? It’s spreading like wildfire. UM has 200 active cases right now. Stop acting like it’s the product on the court! Get real!

2 points:Idaho WAS a bit short on the bench, but their main studs were all there, including Dixon who (as previously mentioned) was held scoreless. He came in averaging 22ppg in conference. Also the UM hockey game Friday featured a packed student-section,as usual. A club team playing miles from campus is consistently drawing more students to each game than Griz b-ball, so quit making lame excuses why no students are attending games.

He's way better than Mack, IMO, but that's not saying much. He was definately jacked to play well against his old school and that was nice to see. I, also, question his ability to stay healthy or play long stretches in a game due to his lack of recent playing time, so don't get your hopes up too much just yet, but I agree with you.

Ok first of all, idk what Idaho being short handed has to do with the students section so that’s really a worthless point on your part. I never said anything about them being short handed, and I am very much aware that they had all their top players and we still shut them down, so I’m not quite sure where you’re trying to go with that with regards to the students section.

Second of all, if you noticed by the time we got to about the 10 minute mark in the first half, the students section was full. Of course people were trying to throw a fit when it wasn’t completely full right at tip-off. So for people to complain about the students section being empty are flat out lying because although it took a little bit, it did end up being full. And for people to complain that the students section sucked before Thursday night are jokes because this was the first home game back with students and it ended up being good. And now with Eastern in town tonight, I guarantee you it’ll be good again tonight as they hate Eastern.

Thirdly, as a huge hockey fan myself, I am a very proud supporter of Griz hockey and have attended multiple games this year despite living out of town. I’m thrilled to see all the support from the students at the Griz hockey games, and my dream one day is for the Griz to start an NCAA Hockey team even though I know it’ll never happen due to how difficult it is to find a hockey program. If you’re trying to demean the hockey team because they’re just a club program, that’s pretty sad. Just because they’re not an NCAA sponsored team, doesn’t mean that they don’t represent the University and I and many others are proud to support them. Also how was the hockey teams students section when the students were gone? Well they didn’t play at all during the break so that’s an unfair comparison so don’t even try to use that in your rebuttal.

Idk which of those is an excuse and I’m tired of you and others lying about the number of students at the game on Thursday. I was at the game Thursday and saw it with my own eyes, if that’s not good enough for you then idk what alternate universe you’re living in.

I, admittedly, addressed 2 separate posts that I dis-agreed with in one post and that was confusing in hindsight. Sorry!. You have drastically misconstrued my intentions.

Idaho brought to Missoula the vast majority of their important players. One frosh starter, who averages 4ppg, wasn't here, otherwise, Idaho brought 90% of their main dogs, so I maintain that "Idaho was depleted" was a lame comment.

In a completely separate issue, and now in a separate paragraph for your clarity, I also maintain that a lack of students at the game is lame. The "universe I come from" (when I was a UM student) is a rabid fan-base that shows up for every game, not just the big games or just on Saturdays. I actually remember when the arena was full or near-full every night my entire 5 years of college. Lame excuses about "Thursday nights are jokes" solidify your half-assed passion.

When I was a student if you didn't get there about 45 minutes early you didn't sit in the zoo, which was if you remember one complete side.
Then the money came and students were kicked out.
Then the beer garden came and the real fans were kicked out of their cheap seats.

Well they make more money from the seats and the couple of 6 packs they sell at least.

I disagree slightly. You are right that you had to show up early to even get in the student section. I remember one Montana State game where there were literally 100s of us awaiting the doors to be let open 2 hours? before the game, and it was a mad sprint to grab a good seat. The entire student-section was jammed full as the rest of the arena was completely empty. They even brought in a comedian to entertain us.
