Spring discussion: the O Line

Other spots - plural? I don’t know that I’d agree with there being multiple position groups ahead of o-line on the list of concerns. Maybe one - because of numbers & experience issues but there’s a lot that returns @ all the other spots. And no - I get you’re not going to replace Dante or Dalton out of the gate. But I don’t believe the drop off is over a cliff.
CB is a concern, so is LB, and Dline. And just overall team speed on defense.

I’m not worried about our offense at all.
Good points

What does the speed of our new transfer CBs look like?

Conversely, Griz defense gave up 42 because Bobby was absolutely certain that Anderson was the key to the game. Perhaps we could add coaching stumbles like this and the blocked punt @ Weebs, that you could see coming in the weeks prior, to the list of concerns that need to be addressed this year.

Back to the original topic discussion; my prediction is similar to the original post, though Ganoung was omitted in the original posters depth chart. I would anticipate the O-line 2-deep to look something like this after spring ball:

LT: Beaver / Anderson
LG: Pillans / Martin / Welnel
C: Mallory / Bloemendaal
RG: Ganoung / Kanouse
RT: Cook / Keintz

Of course, who actually fills a back-up position may change once the season starts. I would expect to see positions filled this way during the season:

LT: Beaver/Cook/Anderson
LG: Pillans / Martin / Welnel
C: Mallory / Martin / Bloemendaal
RG: Ganoung / Martin / Kanouse
RT: Cook / Keintz

Or look at as getting the player the coaches have the most confidence in (not necessarily the "best" player) on the field regardless of right or left side.

Tackles: Beaver, Cook, Keintz, Anderson
Guards: Ganougn, Pillans, Martin, Welnel, Kanouse
Centers: Mallory, Martin, Bleomendaal

How can Cook be both the starting RT and the backup LT?

Because Anderson isn't going in if the 1 goes down. They will move Cook over and put in Keintz before that ever happens.

Yeah we only averaged 37 points and 440 yards of offense. You should be more alarmist bro

I don't think that I am being an alarmist. Hauck agrees with me (excerpted below). I am not calling you out, just expressing my opinion. :?

. . . "We had a really poor performance today, they beat us in all three phases of the game and that's my fault," Head Coach Bobby Hauck said following the game. "I've got to get this team ready to play in every facet and obviously I failed as the head coach today. I want to win this game and our team wants to win this game, and we got outplayed."

Montana State controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides, clearing holes for the run game offensively while bringing Griz quarterback Dalton Sneed down in the backfield six times. They outgained the Grizzlies overall 488-241, winning the rushing battle by over 300 yards.

"The issue would be the fronts, whether we matched up well enough and I thought we would," Hauck said. "We certainly didn't play like we did last weekend on either side of the ball, and it just wasn't good by us up front."
