Wow, add another Spartan to the class. That team was insanely stacked!

I believe there are 4 current players on the roster from Sentinel (DeWaters, Lee, Peppenger, and Roberts) and now 4 more in the hopper? Sirmon, Syvrud, Klucewich and the other receiver, can’t think of his name right now. 7 or 8 total? Seems like I’m missing someone. Or someone graduated or left or something.
Sentinel has provided the most players for a while now. Very impressed with coach Oliver’s program

Yes please and thank you.
So 9 total from Sentinel; 4 current and 5 in the hopper.
And I figured out who left. Looks like 2 of them. On the 2019 roster, Jace Dewalt was listed as a Fr WR, and Nick Germer as a R-Fr WR. Both also from Sentinel but apparently not on the 2020 roster. If you count them, it’s like an entire FB team (11 players) from one HS.

......not taking anything away from Dane at all, but the open enrollment nonsense in Missoula has certainly helped. I know 3 of these kids live in the Big Sky district.

This is not a good think for high school football overall.

Depends on whether or not other cities (Billings, Bozeman, Helena, Butte, GF) allow it....i honestly don’t know the answer to that.

Great Falls has district boundaries. For the high schools the river is the boundary. North/ west of the river = CMR and south/ east = GFH. Only way around that is being granted a permissive transfer.

Actually didn’t Missoula just recently go to districts for freshmen and sophomores?

Same thing in Billings.

Dane has built a tremendous program, and he deserves a ton of credit. Kids just flat want to go there. Not taking anything away from that at all. I’m just saying the open enrollment here has certainly helped. One of their best players, and future Griz literally lives two blocks from Big Sky High School. Just shouldn’t work that way. I have kids I coach in sixth grade, deep in Big Sky territory, and their parents are already talking about wanting to enroll at Sentinel.

As the kids these days would say, sounds a bit “sus” to me.

Are you of the ilk who frowned upon Toure transferring? Even tho he believed he was trying to better himself?

Would you agree the policy and resulting program at Sentinel is a net positive?

Do you have a problem with allowing kids the freedom to seek out the best situation for them? Or would you rather hold them back for.... IDK why? Based on where they live?

In Missoula this isn’t isolated to Sentinel Football; Hellgate Basketball’s last two Gatorade Player of Year recipients (Tinkle and Wooster) would have been Big Sky student athletes using pure boundary lines....Rausch by boundary would be the Big Sky “import” for football, but in fairness to those students that have chosen to school elsewhere; what has Big Sky done in any of their athletic programs to instill any confidence or pride amongst its student athletes and/or their parents? I have several friends with children that attend and compete for Big Sky and the shared sense of doom for their teams is incredible. They have not won in anything for so long and ZERO effort or plan to win anytime in the future. Kids and their parents make decisions based on that sort of stuff.

All from this graduating class.

And Zach Crews (junior). Might end up being the best college player out of all of them. Klucewich is an amazing athlete and could become a great safety, but Crews just has this fluidity to him as a route runner and pass catcher (he shows that same natural athleticism as an edge rusher also). I really think he could develop in 3-4 years and end up being the greatest contributor of the bunch.

I'm all for free market competition. If you want the best, be the best program. Period. For example, a math kid should be able to go to the best math school. Why not?

Using your basketball example, Hellgate is just the better choice for boys. Period. Hays is just a better coach and and runs a clean, ethical program. My kids went to Big Sky, which indeed has problems. Sentinel has all the talent in the world this year and should walk away with an undefeated title. But I have friends who believe their new coach is already rotting the future of the program with hiring friends and other corrupt favoritism. So does a current eighth grader with a basketball future have to deal with this for four years, or can he make his own judgement and transfer to Hellgate if he wants? For the sake of the program - no. For the best interest of the kid - yes.
