The new ownership group is claiming they'll keep the team in Seattle. But if you believe that, I've got a 520 Bridge to sell you. With the success they had there with the NO franchise last year after Katrina, you can bet that the Super Sonics will quickly join the ranks of the Lakers, Jazz and Grizzlies as misnamed/mislocated franchises.

Oklahoma City Supersonics?

Why the hell not?!!!

:finger3:

make sure you take Wally Walker with your sorry arses.

He ruined that Franchise years ago...they are a mere shadow of the once competitive franchise that they were.

They have been pretenders not contenders for some time, with little chance of that changing that fact with the current ownership/management.

:crybaby:

I hope they stay....maybe Wally can move to OKiecity and the supes can stay.

Personally, I can't stomach the NBA. But I do shudder to think about the Seattle Center/Key Arena with no large $$ paying tennant.

I lived in Seattle when the "I love this team" group was rampaging. Kemp, Payton, Nate, McKey and then Schrempf, Pierce then Gill, Sam Perkins. Damn was that a fun team to watch. Then, for some bizarre reason, the owner decided that Wally fucking Walker would be a better executive than broadcaster.

Walker went from idiotic color man that only served to dingy up Calaboro's greatness to executive. He started drafting shitty players. He paid that stiff McElvene more than his All Stars and ruined the team chemistry. He ran George Karl out of town. He eventually helped Sund low-ball Nate and ran him out of town.

I say don't let the door hit them in the ass on the way out of town. Fuck the Sonics. Seattle can't support three major pro franchises plus UW anyway.

WTF do you do with the Key?????

here are a few ideas:

Bill & Mellissa gates buy it and make it their personal Philanthropic headquarters?

The Curt Warner Chevrolet tribute museum to "Ground Chuck/ Seahawks hall of fame" opens in Fall of 2010?

The new guided tour facility for the Ranier Beer newst release:

"Raindogs are making a Comeback Ale" Micro Brew?

or my favorite:

The Fishmonger Technical Institute (every degree is centered around "FishCatching/Throwing" that you see in Pikeplace market.)

They are gonna field a Division III football team.....and expect to really give PLU football team a run for the title in the coming years.

The recievers will never drop a pass!!!

Great blog entry from the "Crushed Optomists" called "League of Douches".

And another one called "When everyone you see is a douche".

http://crushedoptimists.blogspot.com/2006/07/when-everyone-you-see-is-douche.html

Douches, every last one of 'em. I'm a little upset that Wally Fucking Walker didn't get his own Douche picture and caption.

I was wondering how long it would take for Sonic fans to start ranting on this board.

I really can't blame you. I don't like watching owners of pro sports teams move when a city doesn't cater to their every whim. There has been too much of that. I also think that it is disgusting that the new owners say they want to keep the team in Seattle when it is obvious to everyone that they have no intention to stay. This same group tried to buy the Hornets to keep them in Okla. City but the owner wouldn't sell.

I have mixed feelings. I'm not really an NBA fan (I'm still pissed at those guys for blowing the Olympics), but Oklahoma City went nuts for the Hornets and would probably love the Sonics. I'm always happy to see something good happen to Oklahoma City.

I was a bit flippant about the "Douches" blog - funny, funny stuff - but I honestly don't have a problem with the Sonics getting sold or moving. I do have a problem with any ownership group that tries to extort public financing for a stadium by threatening to leave. Fuck 'em. If Ok City wants to pony up tax dollars to build a stadium, let them. Pro basketball works very, very well in a one-Pro-Sport town. San Antonio, Indy and even Portland have proven that.

Seattle can't support an NFL team, MLB team, NBA team and UW. Given that the Sonics lost me when Wally Fucking Walker started running the franchise into the ground, I could care less if they leave. It's all Wally Fucking Walker's fault anyway.
