I don't think anyone is blaming Nate. I do think that the ownership and management group that yanked him around, pissed him off and ultimately chased him down I-5 to Portland with their conduct are being cursed on a nightly basis. Mr Sonic on the Trailblazer bench? <<Shudder.>>
Weiss is a great assist. coach but definately not head coach material. Still, it's not his fault the Sonics can't draft big men worth a crap.

I am not a big NBA fan but am peripherally aware enough to know that McMillan going to Portland lies at the doorstep of management, not Nate McMillan.

The Sonics organization has been headed down hill ever since Wally fricking Walker left his job as a color analyst on radio broadcasts to enter the front office. Last year was a perfect storm for Seattle - everything broke right for the franchise. Ray Allen, Jerome James and Antonio Daniels were all playing in their contract year. Nate was coaching for an extention in the first half of the season and auditioning for his next job for the second half.
Nate was tough enough and had so much credibility with the fans that he made the team play defense through sheer force of will. Weiss isn't a tough coach and has no credibility with the fans. Teams were running layup drills against the Sonics and Weiss couldn't get them to play any defense.
Now, the Sonics are trying to get a new arena deal from the city. They want the city to remodel/expand Key Arena plus cut the team a sweatheart lease deal that includes a larger portion of parking and concession revenue. Wally fricking Walker was in the newpapers a couple of weeks ago saying that the team may be forced to move if their demands aren't met. I think that a lot of people in Seattle are saying "don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, Wally".

Guys like George Karl, the Glove, the Reign Man, Nate, Sam Perkins, Ricky Pierce, Michael Cage, Dana Barros, McKey and Detlef made for an interesting brand of basketball. Now? Bleh - it's just like the rest of the NBA. Virtually unwatchable.

Nate was on his way to being fired before the teams resurgence last year. I think Nate saw the writing on the wall, knew that 2004-2005 was not repeatable, and blew out of town.
I agree the problem with the Sonics is Wally Walker. However, Ray Allen is signed to a ling term contract, and I like Ridnour, and Nick Colison has shown some promise.
I love Danny fortsen, even though he is a head case, just because he is so entertaining. I would trade Rashard Lewis (reminds me too much of Derrick McKey), and get rid of Radmanovic, who seems to think his only job is to shot the occasional 3.
I liked those 90's teams too, but real nostalgia how about when Chambers, Ellis and X were all throwing in 20+ points a night, beating Dallas and Houston in the Western Conference playoffs. They couldn't handle the Lakers then (who could), but they were fun to watch.

Radmonovich is an idiot. He was in the PI a couple of weeks ago saying that he would veto any trade. Evidently, the one year contract that he signed in the off season allows him to do that. Nice clause, Sund.
I'm not sold on Ridnour as a pro point guard. It looked like he was coming on last year but he's been brutal so far this season.
Would you do a "Rashard Lewis + something to the Pacers for Ron Artest" trade? He's on the block and there aren't a lot of all star level talents out there that the Pacers can trade for. Putting him on a team with Fortsen could be a disaster, though and I don't know how he and Allen would get along.

I don't want any losers from the Sonics contaminating my Pacers unless its Ray Allen. The whole idea of an Artest and Fortson duo sounds like the Fresno State basketball version of Old School.
