Also, its hard to get in a rythem as qb when you only throw every 6 or 8 plays. Notice Ochs did better when he threw more.

This is exactly what I think Mania.

I think that our team rolls way more when we are a pass first team. That is not to say that I want them to throw 50 times and run 20...... But I would really love to adopt the Sperier "Fun and Gun" philosophy. Florida use to run more than they threw......but everybody always thought of them as a pass heavy team. They started the game with a pass first attitude.......then ran it well after the field was stretched.

I wish we would look to pass for the lead....then mix the run in AFTER we have it. And I think that if Ochs came out, and they let him throw it...say, 75% of the time to start the game....he would have big games.

Not that he had that bad of a game.....he still was like 15-23 or something....that is a high %! He just had a couple of bad throws....but once they knew they had to throw, he got a rhythm (the right way to spell rhythm by the way) and he did well. What would happen if we came out with that urgency right from the get go......and we throw the ball first...and let Ochs get in a rhythm....then we mix in run.

Having our awesome RBs is, to me, almost a curse. It allows the OC and Head Coach to be very conservative. They come out and think...well we can run at will...so lets do it. The problem is that you can run at will, and not be able to punch it in for a TD. Plus it makes it a low scoring game....which means the other team is never that far out of it. We do not get a whole lot of "game breakin" plays when we are a run first team. I would love to be conservative and run the ball....I just want to do that after we are up by 21.....and I think that passing gives us our best chance to get up big on a team right off the get go.

I remember one Ronbo post after the ISU game, the game were we had our highest O production of the year, where he said something to the point of....."See, we can not win a shoot out." At anyrate, I would like to say......we can win Ball control, grind it out, win by the seat of your pants type of games.....but we can also lose any game that we play that style too......you have less margin for error in that style, and it showed today. All it takes is a few turnovers, or a kick return.....

Sorry for the long and mostly incoherent post.
