Some are hoping the Lady Griz program suffers

There appear to be some out there in social media, may here also, that will relish in the thought that the program will suffer so that they can continue to protest Shannon's not being retained. Regardless of the merits of that decision--

There appear to be some out there in social media, maybe here also, that appear to relish in the thought that the program will suffer so that they can continue to protest Shannon's not being retained. They appear more worried about damning the AD than the ongoing program. These are not real fans, just mad people. Regardless of the merits of the decision, Shannon will not be returning. There is no place for this sort of destructive attitude. It takes too many years to rebound.

It’s going to take many years to rebound regardless of what you are claiming about the anger over Shannon being let go. Not an ideal time to be running a national search, players are still leaving the program-the Pickens transfer really hurts because she was a very promising player that a new coach could really build around. Was it a knee jerk firing? Only the AD can answer that or how much collateral damage will take place. Mike Petrino right now looks like a jackass stuck in a hail storm-he can’t run from it, he can’t hide from it and he can’t make it stop. He’s a good guy but he’s looking more like the captain of the Titanic everyday.

I know nothing about the lady griz program or this situation, but "real fans" don't have to root for the team to win, sorry sometimes you would rather see big structural changes that will put the team in better position long term. If you believe the best the team is capable of in its current state is mediocre or sub par performance then its not unreasonable NOT to hope for the best, because if the best is 14-13 and 4th in BSC your just stuck in limbo. When milk toast Mic Delaney was the football coach I certainly didn't hope for the best aka 6-5 lul. The program committed to uninspired mediocrity and hasn't really recovered. I mean the obvious example is the NFL are Bengals fans who wished for 1-15 season rather than sending their truest love and support to Andy Dalton in hopes of a 9-7 season, not real fans?
 
How’s moving on going? Just lost to a Utah State team under a first year HC and picked to finish dead last in the MWC.

Hi Shannon! I’m sorry your miserable not being the center of attention, but the fact of the matter is you had 1 career conference tournament win, were 1-7 against the cats, had a sub .500 record, highest transfer rate in the conference, highest injury rate in the conference, the worst graduation rate in program history, and you absolutely tarnished Robs legacy. You ran the program which you had a big part of as a player and an assistant into the ground, and it may be a tough year for your lady Griz cause they’re trying to clean up your mess. Btw, I hear the real estate market is hot right now, you must be doing very well! Cheers!

The program was a dumpster fire and the new coach is attempting to rebuild it from the ground up. Not sure what you expected.
 
I see little value in waging an alley brawl over events that none of us can change.

I did watch a Montana Griz WBB team, loaded with transfers and freshmen, play a solid game in a 7-point loss to Utah State. They played aggressively, shot the ball well and were within reach with 55 seconds remaining. They were fun to watch!

I was a fan of last year's team and all its coaches, and I';ll be a fan of this year's young team and their coaches. Go Griz.
 
There will always be some people that are hoping the Lady Griz program suffers. And..........? Ignore them and move on.

Do Lady Griz win yesterday's game last year? Sounds like a pretty ugly game in Seattle yesterday but end of the day a win. Following the opening game loss vs. Utah State the Lady Griz have two D1 wins and a pretty good showing vs. a ranked team in Gonzaga. My observation of attitude and conditioning of players (and maybe coaching!) says that they get worked over by Gonzaga and lose to Seattle in each of the past 2 or 3 seasons. Mike Petrino sounds like a basketball coach to me and not a ship captain!

I heartily agree as well. From what I've seen the ladies are hardly playing like a group on a sinking ship. Hats off to the staff and team for putting the negativity in the rear view mirror and the naysayers can crawl back under their rocks.
