Who thinks there the Griz have a shot at the regular season title? I think so but I tend to be an overly hopeful fan that emotionally invests in a team far more than i should.

I don't think they have a chance at the regular season champs unless they start playing a hell of a lot better than they have been. I think they will make the Big Sky tournament and who know what will happen there. They usually play well in that tournament. It was a huge loss losing Criswell and Mathews to graduation but I think the biggest lost was Krysko. Them dudes would of been running up to the top of MT. Sentinel if he was coaching and they fired up 37 3-pointers. In my opinion they need the coach to step up and kick someone in the patoot. I know there is alot of basketball left but it hurt to split at home last weekend. The Griz don't play well on the road. Hope I'm wrong.

Regular season or tourney?

ISU has a share of the league lead with 5 wins right now, that includes, +3 in road breakthroughs. They still has 6 home games left on their schedule, plus a road game against Northern Colorado. The Griz have only 3 wins and are even, with a road break through but a home loss. The Griz do have 5 home games left, plus N. Colo on the road. I think the Griz could make a run at ISU but it take a monster effort and most likely defeating ISU in Pocatello to get it done. In the tourney, though, the Griz if they play hard they can win 2-3 games in a row against anyone. I think the Griz need a road sweep this week end to attempt to catch ISU, a split and I think ISU is out of reach. Just my opinion.

Yeah, I was thinking that if they don't beat NAU it's out of the question. You know what seems the most likely for this week? Absolutely playing great against NAU, coming out of there with solid win then going to Greeley and just giving it all back. Just something the 07 team would do to us.

ISU has exactly 5 good players. They have zero good players off the bench except Kinghorn, who they are saving for bench-duty for just that purpose. They need to have someone come off the bench to give them a lift. Any injuries, academic problems, rules violations or foul trouble and they are in trouble. They have a history of under-achieving and now that they have a target on them, I expect them to choke a few games away.

Also come tourney-time, they will be vulnerable in having to have their 5 good players all play 35+ minutes back-to-back nights.

The Griz have the third best schedule to finish out the season, with 5 road games and N. Colo. on the raod. So I definitely think #2 is a lot more possible and likely,...... if they can play up to their potential. I just think barring a total collapse of ISU I just do not see anyone catching they. ISU has the most favorable schedule of (along with MSU). I think UM over taking WSU, NAU, EW and especially PSU (only 3 home games left) is highly doable with the Griz talent, but ISU controls their own destiny.

That is a great point Zirg. The other thing that could bite them on any given night, is that aggressive style of defence. I saw ISU play Thursday in Missoula and Saturday in Bozeman, and there perimeter defence is one of the most physical I have seen in a long time in the Sky. I could see them get into some serious foul trouble real quick in any given game if they catch the right (or wrong) referee. I also could see UM getting on a role with their experience, and winning the tourney, or Stucky going wild and EWU going to the NCAA.

Going to be interesting.

With a road sweep and an ISU loss to WSU I think we have a shot. The Griz really need to do this though. If the WSU game was for real and this is the fired up team we're going to see, then there's a shot. But if this is the team that beat Portland State on the road before losing two straight then we're out. By out I mean just not winning the regular season. ISU has been very good so far and in this close league the law of averages has to bite them and bring them back to the pack. I thought that w/ NAU last year though.

Zirg definitely did make a good point, if they are this shallow then it's far more likely they come back to the pack. It's only a 2 game lead. That's not too bad, we just need to pick up these two road games, which will be extremely tough.
