Why can’t people support Sneed without putting down Jensen? I just don’t get it.

Complements are not a f***[*] zero-sum game. And Sneed’s accomplishments this year certainly can stand on their own merit without simultaneously feeling the need to tear down another former Griz who gave his heart and soul while he was here.
Not putting down Jensen at all. Great quarterback. But in the spring there was a contingent of people that kept going on and on about Gresch and how he would have been better than Sneed. Sneed won the job for a reason then Gresch left to greener pastures. It was a moot point by that time. That is all I was referencing. Some of those people were quick to bring up Gresch's performance etc and try to use that as evidence to put Sneed's performance down and say Bobby made a mistake yada, yada. Now those same people all love Sneed.

Who put down Jensen?

I would ask why can't some people read a post and take it for what it's worth?

And, why can't some people read?

I was worried about the “old” Sneed who held on to the ball too long and took sacks, who ran into three defenders and got stripped, and who overthrew short passes. He sure fixed this stuff. I’m on board. He’s very good. Having some pass protection and a first rate receiving corps helps too.

Who put down Jensen?

The so called “fans” who claim to KNOW the unknowable, that’s who.

That Sneed never existed. Figment of your imagination. Nice to see that you finally opened your eyes.

No one dissed Jensen. You just have such a crush on Jensen that you can''t see what people are saying.

I think the record last year compared to this year says otherwise. But as Granite also points out, improved Oline play has allowed Sneed to make plays. And he has matured. And he has experienced receivers. It’s a team
Improvement as well as a QB improvement. It’s great to have a senior QB playing at a high level.

Congratulations to Dalton. Those who follow football closely, we have witnessed true growth and development as a QB. The 1st 1/2 of last season was really up and down for him, and with him. Most of which, was due to an inconsistent (even bad at times) OL, and a below average running game, to support him.

The 1st 1/2 of last season was a lot of Sneed scrambling, and running for his life. Often, he couldn't even get to his 2nd read. If his 1st read wasn't open, he'd be off and running. I am thinking that was more by design than his abilities. It looked to me, he was instructed to do just that. The 2nd half of the season, the passing game started to look good to terrific (depending on opponent). Akem took off and gave Sneed a true #1 WR to trust. The offensive line started to give Sneed a little more time to see the field and begin to process the options within schemes of each play.

Then this spring, we saw him and the WR's consistently get on the same page, the OL mature (physically and mentally), a deeper RB group, and an opportunity to mature as a whole offensively. Then add in key transfers and a faster than expected development for Cook. All of the sudden, Sneed found himself surround by depth at WR, RB, and OL. That all added the needed confidence this team needed as a whole. Right now, I am not 1 bit worried about this offense. Sneed is the biggest key in it though. With him, we have a true All American QB. Without him, we have a very solid QB, that would need time to get in sync with the 1st team offense. This offense goes from a championship caliber offense, to a solid, yet inconsistent offense.

Sneed is the classic example of a qb and team maturing from game to game. That is the kind of maturation coaches of all sports want to see from their teams. Odd thing is, this offense still has room to improve. We have yet to see the full potential of what our OL is capable of. What do I mean by that? The run blocking is still a little inconsistent. The running game still goes through some struggles. It will be a great sign, when we see Sneed's passing stats drop a little, because the running game is capable of dominating as well. That part of the offense is still not there. When it happens, look out FCS, there will be a monster to deal with!!!!

As is, I'm pretty damn comfortable and confident with Sneed leading this offense and team. I know, he will make the right decisions, and take care of the ball!!! Very seldom, he will make a bonehead decision. IF Dalton stays healthy, he will be among the top 3 QB's in the nation. Dalton has arrived, and let's enjoy having an All American level QB here. It's been a long while, since we could enjoy that. Great job, Dalton!!!!

No, we are seeing a more mature player this year.

Yes we are, but what player doesn't mature year to year. Sneed was dodging bullets last year...the offensive line gave him little protection, so when you have less time to read and throw, you make some mistakes. He's the same player, albeit a year older and wiser, but he's getting time now and, oh, what a difference that makes.

Paws, I agree our improved O line play is a huge factor. Yet just my subjective opinion but I believe Sneed has matured greatly over last year. Much more than you might expect for the typical player. It appears the game has 'slowed down' considerably for him. I am very impressed. There is my two bits. :ugeek:

Acknowledged, but agree to disagree. He carried the team last year in certain games...I mean he was the leading rusher in a number of games (he set a Griz record against Sac. St.)...so I think, while he has certainly progressed (as you would hope), if he had the offensive line that he's got this year that he would have been able to "slow down" the game last year. My two bits also...it is a pleasure to have a reasonable discussion with someone.
