"Kansas State shuts down football workouts after positive COVID-19 tests, LSU reportedly has 'at least 30' in quarantine

Positive coronavirus cases are on the rise among college football programs across the country."

Kansas State has paused all workouts for football players as positive COVID-19 tests have increased at the university.

The school announced Saturday that, as of June 19, 14 of the 130 athletes tested have tested positive. As a result, the school has paused football workouts for a period of 14 days.

The athletes who tested positive “are being medically managed according to current local, state, national, and CDC guidelines, which begins with self-isolation for 10 days and until the patient is without fever for 72 hours without medication, whichever takes longer,” the school said.

“The health and well-being of our student-athletes will always be our top priority,” K-State athletic director Gene Taylor said. “Following the most recent test results, we felt like temporarily pausing all football workouts and access to our facilities was the best decision for everyone. We continue to take this situation very seriously and want to do everything we can to get back to workouts soon.”

The updated figure of 14 is a jump from the number Kansas State reported on Wednesday, which was eight. The school has not specified which sport(s) the athletes who have tested positive play.

Kansas State is the second program to halt its offseason workouts due to positive COVID-19 tests. Houston, after opting not to test its players upon their return to campus, shut down workouts after six players tested positive last week.

Given the 70% of all Americans will get covid before it's over, maybe it's time to treat this virus like chicken pox and just get the whole team exposed and over it now u der controlled conditions. And yes, I will volunteer to be first.

Because COVID doesn’t work that way at least yet. If you get it and recover doesn’t necessarily mean you are now immune.

Many infectious disease experts have said they would bet their medical license that you are immune once you have the antibodies. But yes, we don’t “know” this yet for this particular virus.

Given that this virus has been politicized by virtually everyone with a voice, we have received false info from CCP, WHO, CDC, both parties, national media, and state officials, with major decisions based on panic, overreaction and too many bad assumptions, and virtually every doomsday model prediction was wrong, I refuse to accept the worst about what we "don't know".

It boggles the mind that increases in positive tests when we are doing 150000 tests a week instead of 1500 is labeled a spike. I still know no one who has tested positive let alone died from covid, and I have family all over this state, this country and in Europe. Not empirical but still the fact.

Well, just a week ago I was being happy I knew no one who has tested positive. Well, since then, I now know four people, and three of them are hospitalized. That's how fast the situation can change.
