He will just be another Carroll kid that "couldn't play for the Griz" well unless of course he stayed. Then he would have been good enough.
Oh I'm sorry, did the Griz offer him a scholarship? I don't think so.

Someone should make a "all walk-on" team for former Griz players...I bet there have been a few pretty good players.

That means nothing when it comes to Montana talent and how Montana recruits. They consitantly don't offer Montana talent scholorships especially if they know they are going to come there anyway. What does the list look like? I know Colt, Marc, TJ, Schulte are a couple.

Schulte was not a walk-on. He was arguably the best player in the state coming out that year. Any kid on the shrine game roster could have walked-on when school started with no scholarship money. Most of those kids, including Simac, chose to play NAIA where they were given scholarship money. That does not mean they were all good enough to play for the Griz. Saying scholarship offers mean nothing is a joke.

Not sure where you got your information but Shulte didn't get money until I believe his Junior year from Hauck and even then it was like pulling teeth. And if he did get money his freshman/Sophmore year it was partial. Never said offers meant nothing. I said that you should not read to much into the offers and non offers to Montana kids. The staff knows and recruits in state kids with the promise of money in the future. Full rides are typically reserved to the out of state talent that is harder to pull in. Besides I would be willing to bet the Simac will pay more to play at Carroll than he would to play at UofM. Carroll does not give full rides I don't believe.

Full rides are pretty rare at NAIA, especially the private schools. That's not to say it doesn't happen. It usually starts with the financial aid award, then "other scholarships" (activity, merit, academic etc) then an award from the athletic department. It can add up. I had one kid who ended up in the choir to get a full ride because there was "music money" left. Kid couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. If they want a player, they find a way. We have lost some good kids over the years especially locals, because it was assumed they would come anyway.....

Having watched this years Shrine game more times than I care to admit, I thought Simac was a pretty good player. He didn't do anything that jumped off the screen. I'd say Carroll is a really choice for him. Best of luck, good player to a good program...a win-win for both.
