Let me start this off by welcoming Selvig and Qvale. I wish you luck your SR year, and cannot wait for both you to dawn the Maroon and Silver.
As for this years Freshman, I think Vanderjagt could help us quite abit against bigger lineups, by midseason he could be a very good contributor for us. However, I am selfishly hoping Graves, Vanderjagt, and Simms all redshirt. Those 3 along with Selvig and Qvale would be a nightmare for 4 years. Those 5 would all be in a 10 man rotation in 2008, along with Rundles, Staudacher, Swift, Hasquet, and Sharp. Come 2009, minus Hasquet, Sharp, and Swift from that equation. As for Cox, he should stick with the GRIZ, but unless there are injuries or he works like Strait has, he will contribute here and there.
Tenative 2008 rotation: (many combinations)
PG's- Rundles, Graves, Cox, Swift
SG- Swift, Graves, Staudacher, Simms
SF- Swift, Simms, Selvig, Hasquet, Sharp
PF- Hasquet, Sharp, Qvale, Selvig, Vanderjagt
C-Vanderjagt, Qvale, Selvig, Hasquet.
Small line up- Rundles, Staudacher or Graves, Swift, Hasquet, Selvig
Big line up- Swift, Hasquet, Selvig, Vanderjagt, Qvale (I think both Selvig and Hasquet could play the 2 and each of them can play anywhere on the court.)
Look at the big line up, 6'5, 6'9", 6'10", 7'0", 6'11". There will be very few teams in the nation that could go that big with production and still be able to run too.
3 pt lineup- Rundles or Graves, Staudacher, Swift, Hasquet, Selvig or Vanderjagt (the Aussie does have range.)
One could go on and on with all the combinations. When you think about it, the future is so brighter and the present is bright. Great job Griz coaches for assembling such a great core of kids on the court and off. Thanks GUYS!!!! I think it will be wise to get season tickets now. They will be hard to come by soon.
