PR doesn't represent "you people". Nice try though.
I realize that given the "competition" level between the cats and griz that smack talk categories are at a premium, but you are reaching.
I am not smack talking in the least. I just find it utterly ridiculous that PR thinks that if I kick $2,000,000 into the program, that buys me the right to pick the head coach, or at least have a lot of say in the decision.
I have never said anything close to that. What I have said is that I believe it would be awkward for a president/AD to ask a big donor, or potential donor, for millions of dollars just after the donor told the president/AD who they preferrd as the coach and that coach was not selected. If you think big donors or potential donors are not going to take that into account (both the not taking the advice, and the donor possibily thinking the wrong choice was made, i.e. poor judgment), when being asked for millions, then you are naive. You seem to think that a university is entitled to big donors' money no matter what the university does. Sorry, but it doesn't work that way. The question you and university president should be considering is: If we don't listen to our donors, are we going to get their money.
