Sac State losing its best player? All American QB Thomson

They obviously went after him and recruited him hard with how fast this all happened. My gut tells me they went after him which is why he went into the portal in the first place. That’s what worries me about these transfer rules that keep getting easier for kids to transfer out....our FCS programs will become the minor leagues for FBS programs

You know a lot more than me on the topic; would they be permitted to go after him before he entered the portal? That seems . . . problematic if allowed.

You know a lot more than me on the topic; would they be permitted to go after him before he entered the portal? That seems . . . problematic if allowed.

The answer is no. There should be no contact prior to entering the portal. That being said, I will be very surprised if Thomson wins the job, but understand why UW would bring in some experience to push the young kids.

Wasn’t one of those young kids considering entering the portal himself before he reversed course?

This might change his mind again...
 
Be interesting to see if that has any effect on Sirmons long term staying at UW. He was rumored to be front runner for QB1 before this.

You’re not supposed to be able to talk or recruit these kids..... but based on the timing of all this..... how he suddenly went into the portal and then suddenly transferred into Washington who is in need of a one-year quarterback seems way too good to be true. Happened way too quickly to think something wasn’t a foul here.

What’s permitted and what happens are 2 different things

If Thompson would get drafted he would be one of the oldest quarterbacks to do do. I can only think of Roger staubach and Chris weineke who would be older.

Brandon Weeden was the oldest. He was 28 and was a first rounder in 2012 by the Browns. There’s been others older than Thompson mostly guys that had a baseball career or did a LDS mission
