Jenkins gets canned despite the fact he was the most succesful BB Coach there in over 20 years. The new arena talk has been replaced with remodeling the Hornet's nest (see High School gym) to 2500 seats. I don't see any coach being real succesful there with those facilities.

Sacramento State men's basketball coach is out after eight seasons at the helm. Hornets athletics director Terry Wanless opted Friday not to renew Jenkins' contract, according to an athletic department source
After eight seasons, the Jerome Jenkins era at Sacramento State is over. Hornets athletics director Terry Wanless opted Friday not to renew Jenkins' contract as men's basketball coach, according to an athletic department source.
Jenkins finished with an 80-147 overall record and a 37-81 league mark with the Hornets, building the program from a low point to a peak two seasons ago before falling backward.
He inherited a program that had posted a 37-204 record in its first nine seasons in Division I. After going 5-22 and 9-19 in his first two seasons, Jenkins led the Hornets to 12-17, 13-15, 12-16 and 15-15 seasons, reaching the six-team Big Sky Conference Tournament four consecutive times.
But Sac State missed the league tournament the last two seasons, slipping to 10-19 in 2006-2007 and 4-24 this past season, which ended with an 89-69 home-court loss to Weber State on Monday night. The Hornets failed to win a road game this season, finishing 0-15.
A combination of academic problems and injuries also hurt the Hornets. Jenkins lost starters Angel Alamo and Kris Groce to academic problems in the offseason, did without Jason Davis and Randy Adams for 22 games because of academic issues and then watched other players miss a combined 89 games because of injury.
Who will replace Jenkins?
Several names have surfaced, including former Weber State head coach Joe Cravens, Washington assistants Cameron Dollar and Jim Shaw, Saint Mary's associate head coach Kyle Smith, Idaho Stampede assistant Guy Beach and NBA advance scout Clay Moser.
Whoever takes the job will have several key players returning from a team that finished last in the Big Sky with a 2-14 mark. Point guard Vinnie McGhee Jr. earned Big Sky Freshman of the Year honors after averaging 12.1 points and 5.0 assists, junior guard Loren Leath led the team with a 13.1 scoring average, and sophomore forward Justin Eller contributed 4.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
