Hes gettin some meaningful time tonight against BYU. Had 5 pts and 5 boards in the first half. Very aggressive establishing position on the offensive end. Wish he was a Grizzly

I'm here to eat crow. I felt he'd never get there with Gonzaga but watched his 5 points and 5 boards in 5 minutes vs. BYU last night. He did appear to be able to get some offensive position and almost seemed teammates were reluctant to get it to him a couple times when they should have. A few of his boards kind of dropped into his lap but he has good hands to grab them and his hands helped him make a couple buckets around the hoop. He will be a factor in his career at Gonzaga.....but plenty of work ahead of him.

I wonder how much time he will see over the next 2 years with Karnowski being a sophomore and Wiltjer the former McDonald's all American/Kentucky transfer being eligible next year.

If Zags get Sabonis (or a couple other Bigs on their board and Miekle) Ryan could redshirt...OR, if not, in some easier games they could high/low with Karnowski, use the 10 fouls night in and night out (4 at the offensive end going for rebounds) --results in an extra 4-10 rebounds minimum between the two, AND, they "coach/force" Ryan to shoot the 12-15 footer which makes him even better in final 2 years. Lots of other good "potential" possibilities...
