Sad news about Russ Francis. Saw him at a Griz game in the late 1980's. Asked to see his Super Bowl championship ring. Very nice man. RIP.

He had a place in the bitterroot back in the day. Met him a time or two. He was my Maui friend’s 8th grade boyfriend. She always said he was a great guy.

Hoops, how is your Maui friend? I work with EPA and FEMA a bunch and those folks are exhausted with the response. It’s been a rough one. If shes on the island, how is she holding up? Check on her if you can.

She's fine. We text and talk frequently. She's a lawyer. Lives up on the volcano, although her neighborhood was the first to evacuate. Was scary at first. Her house was fine and never threatene. Her husband used to be the head of the Maui water company, or one of them, so he and they understand water better than most.

Glad to hear her and her family is ok!

The one who refused to release the water to fight the fires? Mr. Woke?

Nope. The failure to release water came from the State: "With wildfires ravaging West Maui on Aug. 8, a state water official delayed the release of water that landowners wanted to help protect their property from fires." My friend worked for some private water company, which I think was not little.
