ROOT SPORTS

If so, does that mean we only get to watch Montana and Montana State games for basketball also?

I kid...sort of.

There was an article in the Kaimin today, that they interviewed Tinks for, and he said the ROOTS deal was FB only.

Here's the article:

Good Find!!! Pretty sad interview though! No ROOT for bball sucks, no tv for Cat/Griz game 1st time in 30 yrs, no one wants to play us at home, and Cherry's injury!! WOW!! kinda depressing?? Atleast we have a good team, coach, and BigSky TV!! haha! gotta find something positive??

Even if they did basketball too, this is an absolutely ludicrous comment. The Griz and Cats have to play each of the other teams so they get on TV too. You can't blame root for wanting to get ratings can you? :thumb:

That is really weird, I wonder if something changed or if tinkle just has his facts wrong?

DIRECTV Sports Networks and Big Sky Conference Pact To Significantly Expand TV Exposure for the League's Football and Basketball Games

DIRECTV Sports Networks will produce and televise up to 18 Big Sky Conference football games each season, including the annual Montana-Montana State rivalry game, beginning with the 2012 football season. Under the agreement, it may also broadcast up to 12 regular season conference basketball games as well as Big Sky quarterfinal and semifinal conference men's basketball tournament games. All events will be produced and distributed in High Definition with new state-of-the-art graphics elements customized for the Big Sky Conference and its teams.

"Our agreement with DIRECTV Sports Networks and ROOT SPORTS solidifies our position as a major player in Division I football in the western United States,'' said Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton. "This is a landmark deal for the Big Sky Conference, as it will increase our exposure regionally and nationally in football and basketball. We are very excited to begin this partnership with DIRECTV Sports Networks. We know our fans will appreciate the high production values, which will be second-to-none.''

As well as nice facilities, and fans in the stands!

Sorry, Weber State deserves props as their facilities and attendance is tops. Griz have dibs on football bragging rights but the they don't put as many fans in the stands for hoops.

Sadly, I think we can all agree that college hoops plays second fiddle (other that WSU) in the Big Sky Conference.

Wasnt excluding Weber for B-Ball, they do have the fans and facilities. Was kinda saying as a whole, football and b-ball, the Montana's Rule! Football and b-ball attendance approx: UM 29,000 MSU 21,000 and Weber 15,000. No one else even close(not sure about NDU,SUU)! So in reality, I feel these schools should be rewarded for having support, success, and facilities, worthy of being broadcast nationally! Just based on b-ball obviuosly Weber 6493, UM 4005, and even MSU 2921, should get the majority of the games, and they should be broadcast from their home courts. The Big Sky dont need to be showcasing SAC 648, NAU 646, and PSU 824 at their empty arena's!!! Kinda like tomorrows football game in Greeley, its a highschool stadium half empty, and there will probably be more Griz fans than Bear fans? Its nice to watch, but will look horrible on tv!
