For those of you who haven't heard, there was a horrific fire that broke out in the M&M bar and restaurant in Butte last night that totally destroyed it. I was there two weeks ago having breakfast for what would end up being the final time. Such a historic place and I felt it deserved enough recognition to have it's own post. R.I.P M&M. We will miss you!

Tough week for MT bars.

It's sad to see the past suddenly disappear. Good memories without a point of reference to point to.

A big shift in Butte economics is on the horizon as the long time patrons will start drinking elsewhere ... St. Patrick's Day won't be the same!

Drew a crowd. The sign on the front of the building was saved, to the cheers of the crowd. :thumb:

I happened to be passing through Butte one St. Patty's day, so I went up to downtown's festivities. Amazing, being the only one sober in a street full of drunks. It would be a shame to lose that tradition, though. I hope they rebuild.
130 year old building, according to TV news. Scour Montana for a rival. Managed to survive the arson plague following the shutdown of The Pit and the initiation of Lake Butte. Not too many Montana towns have their own lake. Butte is special.
