Rolling Stones in WaGriz One of the all time greatest experiences ever in WaGriz. And that’s saying something.

Total bummer. Could be best rock drummer, ever (lasted decades longer than Moon or Bonham). Stones are essentially over, but he did it right in Missoula.

Jagger was Jagger, but the Stones were all about the rhythm section. Charlie, Wyman and Richards, who was far better on rhythm than lead. Think 'Satisfaction;" unique rhythm and buzz.

As usual Kem you are 100% correct. Rhythm sections are like linemen. Under appreciated but absolutely essential.
Saw the Stones in '71 and at WaGriz. Both were some of the best shows I ever saw and I've seen quite a few.
RIP Charlie

Watts couldn't hit the skins like another incredible drummer we lost recently..... Nell Peart of Rush
Peart was probably the best of all time and freakish in what he could extend on numerous kits, a true genius. There is a legit argument to be made that Rush might be the most musically talented trio in rock history. Watts was different though, I listened to the guy who played harmonica on so many great Stones songs the other day, he said Watts was "in the pocket" and "the glue and the engine."

There's something to be said for the hot chick from the bar and then there's something to be said for the one who warms up the bed every night. They're both worth shutting up and listening to. (assuming they don't overlap, lawyers are expensive as hell.)

I am sure you know that Peart also wrote many of their hits too.

Are you a musician? I am a guitar-player, singer, composer, who played in a touring band while in high school. We were booked by our agent as the opening band for several well-known bands when they played venues in Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Eastern Indiana, like The Outsiders, The Lovin' Spoonfull, The Music Explosion, The Young Rascals, and The Hollies.

I still sit-in with bands around Missoula while here, and around Phoenix when there.

That's impressive. In my case, can't play a lick of anything on anything, and I have a voice that sounds like a car backing over a fat guy (stole that from Woody Allen).

Picture of my band, The Vondells, circa 1966. I was 17 years old, and used to jam with Rick Derringer, when he was in The McCoys (Hang On Sloopy). I got together with Rick about 15 years ago or so when he played in Missoula. Our record, titled "A Loser", was written by our bass player. The name was appropriate! LOL

I see the Stones, after the Watts announcement, are planning yet another tour. We may get to see Mick blow out a hip on stage. 78 years old, folks.

Great football post.

Your contribution to this thread:

1) run down the guy who passed away by comparing his skills to another drummer.

2) take the opportunity to talk about yourself (of course).

Keep making yourself look desperate and obsessed. I accomplished more by the age of 25 than you'll ever accomplish. You're so jealous of me, and you exhibit it every day. What a total pathetic loser you are.

Dan, get a clue, dude. Sitting-in with a band means that I am invited to play a couple of songs with them. I know many folks within the musician community in Missoula. I have sat-in with many groups in Missoula, Polson, Bigfork, and Kalispell, and all over Phoenix. Rob Quist and Terry McDonald were student buddies of mine at UM. Ever hear of Sons of Beaches, or Mission Mountain?
