Sorry if you guys have already talked about it. Being in the stands it was very confusing as
the ref's Mic wasn't working. Were they reviewing Haynes' catch AFTER Canada already
ran the handoff play? No time ever put back on the clock either??
Also, just want to Thank one of Coastal's assistant coach for giving the fans the bird today. Not the rooster kind either

Yes they were reviewing the Haynes catch after the play to Canada. They claim that one "referee" recieved the page for the review before the snap, but made no effort whatsoever to stop the play. They should not have been able to review the call after the snap, but they did anyway.

I watched it again on ESPN3 and no refs blew the play dead or even hinted at wanting to review anything until well after Canada's 15 yard gain was over.

The excuse the refs gave after the game was that one of them got paged Before the snap, therefore they had to review it. If that was the case why did the refs not blow the play dead?

Either way they allowed the play to continue so that review should have never taken place and the play that happened certainly shouldn't have been negated. They basically rewrote the rules as they saw fit on that and reviewed the play anyway even though another play had already taken place.

One of the announcers (who was an ex-coach I guess) said "You can't do that" multiple times in reference to them reviewing that previous play. He then said it was "outrageous and has a tremendous affect on the game".

Working on getting a video clip of that debacle on Youtube...

The thing that pisses me off is cc was able to see the play we intended to run in that situation. Totally unacceptable. Did they put the time back on the clock?

There was more than just the ref's mic not working, they had a brain freeze and should be fined, suspended, or fired. Hope they never officiate another FCS playoff game again, they do not deserve it.

A YouTube Clip Would Clear Up For Us AtTheGame.

Here are the review rules:

"The replay official and his crew shall review every play of a game. He
may stop a game at any time before the ball is next legally put in play"

Was the play stopped before the ball was legally put in play?

"When To Stop a Game
ARTICLE 2. a. A game may be stopped, either by the replay official or by a
head coach’s challenge, at any time before the ball is next legally put in play
Exception:
Rule 12-3-5-c).
b.
No game official may request that a game be stopped for a play to be
reviewed"

"When a game is to be stopped either by the replay official or
by a head coach’s challenge, the designated officials on the field will be
notified by a buzzer system or other appropriate means.
b.
If the review is initiated by the replay official, the referee shall announce:
“The ruling on the previous play is ... (brief description of ruling). The play
is under further review.”
If the game has been stopped due to a head coach’s challenge, the referee
shall announce:
“The (name of institution) head coach has challenged the ruling of (state the
ruling). The play is under further review."

Did any of this occur? No, is the answer.

Horrible horrible officiating. Even embarrassing by low ncaa standards.

That fiasco was absolutely outrageous and if I was Delaney I definitely would have been thrown out of the game at that point for getting in the referees face about how stupid he was

Here's the offical explanation from the officials...

Mick isn't that stupid. You could tell he was absolutely furious, though.
