Referee question

I read in the box score of a recent Griz game that one of the officials was John Weeks. Is that by any chance the John Weeks who played up at Wolf Point many years ago and then went on, I believe, to play ball at Montana State?

That would be one OLD ref if it is

Willie and John are brothers -- but they must be in their late 50s by now. Willie was like 6'5" and quick and John was 6'8" or so and played the post. I remember them from a High School state tournament I watched when I was 7 or 8 years old. I'm sure that the official named John Weeks is not the same person. When I saw the name in the box scores, it opened up one of those "where are they now?" questions in my mind.

Not sure about John Weeks, but there is a Willie and Wayne Weeks from WP. I'm originally from Scobey and remember them playing in Invitional Tourney's when there were out of school. They could play!

Think they won the Big 32 a time or two??

I think they did win the Big 32 at least once, somewhere around 1969 or 1970. I also remember watching Willie Weeks' son Wacy Weeks in the class B tournament in 2001. Wolf Point looked to be unbeatable, but in the end Three Forks beat them. I had a cousin for Three Forks and it was fun.

John Weeks lives down in Southwest Texas, born and raised. I know him fairly well here in Sac. Ran into him one night at a restaurant after he ref'd one of our games and started talking. He is a real classy gentleman, though, can't say the same for some of the refs in the BSC.
