Red shirts

Sims is not going to the cats. In fact he is sticking around and intends on playing for the Griz and in fact likes it. Sister is a good Griz basketball player...Family can watch him play.

Horner is one of the best athletes on the team. Very quick and agile for his length. I don't think any of the redshirts have the attributes that he brings to the table. Saying that, I think Holden Ryan is a more explosive option at the slot receiver and someone that could take a hot route and then bulldoze over linebackers and safeties for additional yards. I see Bingham as a more natural TE. Will be interesting to see how they utilize him.

The coaches have high hopes for Sims. They say he will be the next in line of great Griz DEs. I don't think he's going anywhere.

I see Ryan Johnson and Tucker Schye as the starting DE with Sims getting a lot of action especially in passing situations. Kidder, Bradley, Davis and Peavey(?) in the middle. Would be great if Mau Enna could find his way here as well. Banks,Strahm and Buss at the backers, with Thomas, Cochran, and Sirmon becoming ST studs and then getting some reps as well. There is also that big middle linebacker David Fa'atuisese to consider. The corners will be Nelson and some combination of McKinley, Sanders, and Parker. Yamon Sanders is a lock for SS but it will be interesting to see who mans FS spot. Can Rasmussen move there? Epperely, Sandry, a drop down? I am probably missing a few.

Long story short I think Sims becomes a huge part of the d going forward.

GO GRIZ

I think we will be in great shape at DE for a few years and there is good potential at LB but the safety position might hurt us. I'm mostly concerned about DL - can't one of the O-linemen that have no shot of playing move to DL? Clint Larowe, Max Kelly? Might be their only shot at significant playing time.

wondered the same....so many complaints about Oline and if the backups can't make the starting 5 likely wont in the future with all this years recruits getting a full year in the strength program. A Fullback made the switch, would think an Oline guy could too

That is a good assessment. We don't seem to utilize a traditional tight end though. That is why I was wondering if he might switch positions to an area that needs more depth. We seem to have an overflow of receivers. If Bingham does remain at wideout, he certainly fits a Horner type more than say Jones or Henderson, but I agree that Horner has a special skill set for his size. Cracking the wideout rotation could be really difficult, while moving to a spot on our front seven defensively possibly would give the kid a quicker route to help the team. We lose 6 of our starting front 7 players. It will be interesting to see what happens.

He redshirted his year so he'd lose a year of eligibility if he transfered to msu. Now if he transfered to ewu under the Hamlin rule he'd gain 2 extra years of eligibility which would put him in the running for setting new records for most games played/most tackles.

Apples and Oranges between high school and college. You do not lose a year moving in high school.
