Received my tickets to the Bracket Buster and we play ......

Somebody from the Missouri Valley Conference.

Which team do not know. There are only 4 teams in the bracket buster from the Big Sky, but there are 10 teams in the Missouri Valley participating.

Could play Drake again. If that is the case, could play Drake again at their place next year (since those teams that host must play at the other teams place the following year in a non-conference game). Considering that Griz played Drake on the road already, I suspect that was a home-home contract and play them next year at home, Griz could play Drake twice next year also.

Here are the potential teams that Griz will play in the ESPN bracket buster:

Bradley
Creighton
Illinois State
Evansville
Indiana State
Northern Iowa
Missouri State
Southern Illinois
Wichita State
Drake

Indiana State is ranked third on www.realtimerpi.com in RPI and has a 7 - 0 record. Northern Iowa is 8 - 1 record, is ranked 11th in RPI, and Missouri State is ranked 13th with a 7 - 1 record. Indiana State was ranked 4 on www.collegerpi.com as of Dec. 19th.

I kind of like having the Griz play Larry Birds alma mater.

According to www.realtimerpi.com, Missouri Valley Conference is ranked 3rd.

We all know who we play Jan. 29, 2006 when the matchups are determined.

Good work, I would like to see us play Northern Iowa, they are having a great season and imo is the best team in Iowa.

Only 4 MVC teams will play bracket buster road games though. They are:
Drake
Illinois State
Indiana State
Missouri State

So, if it is indeed an MVC team it'll be one of those. What did the ticket say that indicates it is definitely an MVC opponent?

I doubt the game this year with Drake was part of a home-and-home series as it was a tournament. Possible though.

Ticket says Big Sky Conference vs Missouri Valley Conference. And since there are only 4 Big Sky teams, I do not think all Missouri Valley Conference teams will be playing Big Sky Teams.

Thus, if your info is correct about those 4, then I really hope for Indiana State. I am not interested in Griz playing Drake twice this year, and possibly twice next year. Actually I just found the away teams at another site. I found my info on espn.com and it didn't state who were home and away.

Did you order those tix online? What day is the Bracket Buster?

Feb 18, 2005.

I called up the ticket office and bought them. I am a season ticket holder and wanted to make sure I get the same seats. Not sure they are selling them to non-season ticket holders yet, but can't see why they wouldn't.

Can someone explain to me what the bracket buster is?

Western beating Carroll or Carroll beating Duke or anybody in the big sky that would be silly enough to schedule them.

Northern Iowa would be sweet. I have to agree with the earlier poster who said they may be the best in the state of Iowa. My boss is a Hawkeye alum and as he says right now Drake and UNI are the teams to watch out there. As he said,Eustachy drank his way out of Ames and Alford has alienated many Hawkeye ticket holders. UNI played great this year and really gave it to Western Michigan last year in the Bracket Buster. Would be a great matchup.

Didn't Northern Iowa beat Iowa this year?

And LSU..... :crybaby:

N. Iowa would be a big challenge. They would replace UWM as the toughest team we play this year if they end up being our opponet for the Backet buster.

Unfortunately, Northern Iowa is a home team so won't be playing here.

Fine by me.

At this point, I would think that Missouri State or Indiana State would be the two likely opponents.

Missouri State is an interesting team because they appear to be over rated in the RPI, but are going to stay pretty high because so many MVC teams are ranked so well. I think it might be a quality win that would boost the RPI, but they haven't shown to be a tough team like Indiana State up to this point.
