RB's and WR's OH My

Running back lost Moore, Nguyen, & Walden to graduation. Hagfors to TE and Kirschner to S. And it's rumored that Butler is/has transferred out. That leaves Canada (Jr), Counts (Soph), and Elder (Soph). RB is suuuuuper thin. Good talent on top with Canada/Counts but zero depth. If we're a spread/running team we need WAY more than 2 or 3 guys to contribute.

Question: Does anyone think that Van Ackeren's verbal may negate the need for Kirschner to move to Safety?

It might, I recall a recent article with Delaney saying they weren't sure on Kirsch moving to S or not. Personally based on the few carries he had last year I'd hope he stayed at RB.

This. BK is a good running back. Maybe he should beef up a little more so he can open up holes for Canada , Van, and Counts.

Another O lineman you guys are forgetting to add is Dan Morstein from Dillon who walked on last year. I am from Utah and I have seen Cameron Rokich play he looks very good but he needs to add some weight, it was my understanding that last week was lineman week at UM and Rokich along with 2 Lineman from Eugene and a DE from Seattle all visited.

Boulder Creek 2013 DB Ryan McKinley says he will choose among Montana, NAU and North Dakota State after NDS trip this weekend.

I was waiting to see something last year from Ginn but he didn't show much. Ginn is a monster and a lane plugger, but I think Harris may take him over this year in your 2-deep. We'll see.

I agree with this sentiment. :thumb:

Just my opinion here but I think Ginn needs to/is hopefully going through a bit of mental check.

He showed up in fall camp as a dominant high school player and had a great few days, catching a lot of players/coaches/fans attention. But then he got hurt and missed the year. He then dodged a bullet with some disciplinary stuff his freshman year as well. He shows up in spring ball but is obviously hampered by the injury still and what I mostly noticed was a lot of limping around and watching from the sideline. I have no clue how his summer condo went but in fall camp he appeared (to me) to run out of gas more than the other D-line kids. My observations could be WAY OFF however it struck me that he was more out of shape coming into fall camp than many other D-line guys. The season starts, he gets buried in depth, and not much is made of his RS-frosh year. That's it, in a nut shell.

My HOPE for the guy is that he's got his head screwed on properly now and is ready to come into spring camp and play like the kick ass run-stopper and O-line wrecker we saw in the Hellgate highlight reel. I think a lot of 18/19 year old kids come in thinking their sh*t don't stink and they can play right away - to just find out that many can't. Some get injured, some get benched - and it has a negative affect on them. However in their next year or two they bounce back, learn from their challenges and get better. It's a great way to have these guys build up their mental toughness and to teach them they can rebound from adversity. Some will wash out, some will respond wonderfully. I hope for Ginn that he's ready to go, because he could be a great addition to our stable of play makers on the d-line.

The Griz have a pair of OL coming in. Joel Kramer from Helllgate though I believe he's looking at playing defense, and Cody Walk (6-4, 250) from Billings Skyview. They also have interest in Buttrovich from Butte (6-5, 300), Sather from Bigfork (6-5, 270) and Colter Murphy of Big Sky (6-2, 285).

Get the d*** out of your mouth and say the name correctly.

I still wonder why we haven't seen 1 OL recruit.

grizfan95 - from Peyton's list there are two recruits who have been offered -
OL- Cameron Rokich Draper, UT 6'5" 250 (Juan Diego HS) Draper, UT
OL/DT- Akeem Roller 6'4" 270 (Cretin-Derham Hall HS) St. Paul, MN (+E. Mich, W. Mich, ND, NIU)

There has been a lot of buzz about Roller, does anyone know anything about Rokich?

As PR also put, we've got 6 (including Simkins who I believe is a walk-on) RS Frosh linemen as well.

Seniors: Poehls, Kistler, Oiland
Juniors: Hines, Hines, Heavyrunner, (Poole?)
Soph: Kalekini, Schmaing
RS Frosh: Kelly, LaRowe, Detrich, Weyer, Todd, Simkins

OL is pretty solid for a while.

You are correct Brint, he is a preferred walk-on, and is a the 3rd Butte Central player on the current Griz. He is a 1st team All-State linebacker and 1st team All-State offensive lineman. Originally thought he could help at LB/special teams, he has been moved to OL.

Again, going back a month or so, I thought Kirschner was going to be the fix to all your safety problems. He was the next Colt Anderson. He is a Pac-10 safety who wanted a shot at RB so that is why he came to UM.

Again going back a month or so we didn't have a FBS transfer at S coming in. Is that REALLY that difficult to understand?

It is. Suddenly Kirshner is no longer a stud at safety? Suddenly he will see the field at RB? eGriz logic
