RB#1

I love the fact it looks like we have four legit backs who could rotate in and ALWAYS have a super fresh back in there. Don’t have to depend on one guy and then be fucked if he goes down.

Turner definitely deserves more playing time and

Based off of what? Should his time cut into Knight and Ostmo's?

Based off he’s a good running back? Didn’t say anything bad about the others either so quit trying to put words in my mouth. Turner, Knight, and Ostmo should be our three main backs IMO, with Knight the obvious starter at this point.

I didn't try to put words in your mouth, but essentially that would cut what would seem to be Ostmo and Knight's reps. I just think the coaches would have given more playing time by now if he deserved it.

It’s too bad Knight and Ostmo can’t hold a candle to Eastwood in pass protection.

It's good to see that the last Eastwood fan is still hanging tough to their loyalty. Neither Knight or Ostmo fumbled and that is my #1 requirement from an RB. If you can't pass that test, nothing else matters. I'm just glad that BH saw the light as well. N Alabama only had 2 sacks so the pass protection wasn't an issue. If the Lions had 8 sacks or something, you might have a case, but I'll gladly concede 2 sacks as long as I also have 120 yards rushing,3 catches,3 tds and 0 fumbles from my (2 primary) Rbs.

I realize now this post probably made it seem like I was sticking up for Eastwood at the expense of the other two, but I assure you it's not the case. Knight firmly took the #1 RB job last night, and I saw enough from Ostmo to think he should be off the bench before Eastwood as RB #2.

However, neither of them did a very good job in blitz pickup, while Eastwood is far and away better in that department. It's not enough (obviously) to move him back to RB #1, though, and I genuinely think it's too bad the other two aren't nearly as good. If they improve in pass blocking, I think it'll be tough for Eastwood to get his job back, unless he has a major turnaround.

Right on, Knight (and maybe Ostmo, haven't noticed yet) need to get better at pass blocking, and likely will get much coaching in that area now that they look to be the lead horses. I doubt anybody can deny that Knight deserves to be the lead dog and Ostmo the change-of-pace and short yardage guy, good to see someone who runs downhill with guys in tow again.

Eastwood is a good all-around back but just hasn't been able to find the holes, maybe this will light a fire under him and he can carve out some time again, who knows.

Agree 100%. And, these guys are all so young still. True freshman, RS freshman, sophomore, and RS sophomore. I am confident that with more time in the program they will improve their blocking ability and that as the OL continues to gel, the run game will get stronger. Things are definitely looking up.

Thought Knight fumbled but it went out of bounds.

Ostmo fumbled late in the fourth quarter and it rolled out of bounds.

Ground can't cause a fumble, so technically not a fumble. ;)

You're absolutely correct! I believe that was what the poster above was referring to, I don't remember Knight putting the ball on the ground at any time.

Eastwood is a better blocker because he blocks likes he runs. When he runs, he runs into the back of his blocker. When he pass protects, he stands in the way of the rusher. Kind of not a real mobile guy. Knight has the juke and jive needed for an RB. Eastwood doesn't have a fast enough 1st step and lacks vision IMO. I said this last year as well. Blame it on the O-Line if you want, but he has to get better vision of what is happening around him just not in front of him.

correct, Knight never fumbled and the "non-fumble" out of bounds was Ostmo Like you said.
