Radio Broadcast

Don't have ESPN 3 and didn't want to go to a bar so stayed at home watching MSU and Eastern battle with "mute" on and listened to the radio broadcast of the Griz game..

I like Mick but holy scissor shit.... You're supposed to be able to listen to a broadcast and see the game with your minds eye...
It can be terribly difficult to follow his play by play announcing..
On Liberty's first possession they went to commercial break and I missed almost the entire drive until right before they scored. (Not his fault)
On I believe Liberty's second possession they broke off this monster play and scored yet I had no idea what was going on until they scored and a penalty was assessed on Liberty for I guess..... excessive celebration?
Many times there was a punt and it rolled dead or was fair caught on the 45 for example. Who's 45?!!
Listening to the game was very aggravating.... You'd hear the crowd either go quiet or get loud and that was how you knew something was going on.. Seemed to be a very patchy and pieced together broadcast.
I'm still stinging over the loss and in a shitty mood, so that definitely has something to do with it.. I guess I feel like bitching about something other than the Griz offense..

Agreed 100%. That was the first time I've ever listened to an audio broadcast of a Griz game, and it'll be the last. VERY difficult to follow Mick's style, and rarely was his info timely or accurate. Knew way before he'd say anything whether it was good news or not for the Griz based on the crowd reaction.

Forgot about that one.... Accuracy was terrible.. Wrong down and distance numerous times throughout the game.

I have said it before. And I agree with you all. Sure I am a bobcat but I have many relatives/friends that are griz. Very hard to follow the games on the radio. As I have said before I end up listening to "crowd noise" to see what happened. Frustrating. I understand Mick had some health issue last year or something? Maybe I should be more patient.

I've got to disagree here, fellas. Back in the day, Mick was the only beacon of clarity and familiarity in broadcasting the games for those of us living out of state. Back then the internet video feed was like watching choppy film from the 1920's Yankee games. Even liberal amounts of Dramamine and red beer could not stop the inevitable effects of vertigo. One was forced to look away from the monitor and rely on Mick's voice to describe the action on the field. I still blame my failing eyesight on the effects of attempting to watch those games. Well that and the masturbation.

Oh, and you punks stay off of my lawn!

I love Mick, but I agree at times his PBP needs to have more "play" in it. I think, frankly, he assumes that the vast majority of people listening are simulcasting the game while watching either on TV or on a stream.

Honestly, that was my exact impression listening to him. But, that doesn't explain the inaccuracies, missed plays, names, etc...

Back in "the day" I worked at a radio station that played the griz games, and it drove me nuts when he would say "first down run up the middle....4 yard gain...now 2nd and 9..." He did this a lot.

Mick is still distraught that his little buddy Gilligan, err... Gurns is no longer in the booth with him. Either that or he had one too many daiquiris prior to kickoff. He'll recover.

Good to know that at least he's consistent. He must have done that 15 times yesterday.
