Quite the day for Griz Nation

3 big time commitments today. As much as the season ended on a downer and was generally disappointmenting to myself and many others. Today reminds me that better days might be just around the corner. I have been hard on this team and staff as anyone at times. But certainly it can be said that the coaches and players want to win more than than any fan. Maybe many of us, myself included, forget how much pressure they are all really under. Anyway it is clear that they are working hard to right the ship and clean tune up the Cadillac. As Joe Glenn used to say: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Well it looks like we took a big bite today.

There's been a ton of turnover on this team in two years, but most of it for the better. Better days are definitely ahead for this program. Looking forward to the next several years with glee.

We'll see if it's for the better. Today gives me a lot more hope that we have the tools to bring this program back to where it belongs.
Glee is hardly the word, yet.

Yesterday I bought a bottle of "The Pessimist" wine. The quote on the back?

“A PESSIMIST IS NEVER DISAPPOINTED.”

Yes, most of the turnover was for the better, you could argue all since you want kids who see eye to eye with the coach and the coach wants them. I won't name names, but there were several kids that got the boot last year who I couldn't believe were still on the roster. I left behind last season when hunting season ended. It's healthier that way. Stitt's classes are showing just how much room for improvement there is to get to the top. Still hard for me to believe we didn't have an o-linemen on the roster a few years ago over 300. From what I can tell next year's 2 deep will all be 300 plus, or close.

Size on both the offensive line and defensive lines is amazing. I wonder how the staff plans to use Simms? He is a stud. Maybe he will be moved around the line, to take advantage of his athleticism and mismatches. :thumb:

I've been wondering the same thing because he is a stud. Personally, I'd like to see him up to 280 by fall, and put put on 5-10 pounds til he graduates. I think he with these giant run-stuffing 300+ guys we have now in Davidson, Longoria, and the new Big 10 guy, Sims would fit perfect as an athletic 280ish guy...but that's only my opinion. I also thought Kidder would have been better left at D-tackle and bulking up from a great junior year, but it is what it is. I'm really curious what Randy Rodriguez will do. He seems like an awesome recruit. It's almost like night and day, we have as much size on the lines as we've ever had and we're loaded at linebacker so pretty fun to think about our trench wars coming up.

loved this comment from Banks:

"I knew Montana is moving in the right direction," Banks explained his decision. "I know that we're gonna win and that the fan base is waiting on coach Stitt to make that program great again.

"I wanted to be a part of that over going to a simple (FBS) bowl game and winning six or seven games in a season."

Has UM ever had this many kids with FBS offers in a recruiting class before? Looking at these kids with MWC, PAC-12 looks (most likely preferred walk ons), etc., these last two classes are stacked with talent. Obviously we all want to win now, but I'm excited for what this team will be doing in '18 and '19.

if we hit on the qb position, the acuteness of the upward pointing arrow increases dramatically...fingers crossed!

This is the monstrous question that looms, the quality of play here...whether someone we have or someone who we get...is going to be the major factor for being in the pack again or owning it like we need to be.

Go Recruiters Go.

I was wondering about a freshman QB recruit in this class. My theory is need a QB at every class level as to not be too heavy with upper/lower classmen...are they letting the MT kid stay at QB or have him play safety?
