Quick Question

Is it pretty common for an athletic dept. to partial an athlete and then "partiton" the financial aide office for additional aide? ie....academic scholarships.

My point would be that the athlete needs the extra funds and actually could bump a more academically positioned student. In this case the athlete who has a 3.6 gpa and an ACT score of 25 received a full ride after the addtional monies were given for academics. The student which has a 3.965 and an ACT score of 31 received $1000.00 non renewable. This should not happen!

Totally agree (I was one pf those kids who didn't get very good scholarships w/ a 3.85 cumulative GPA & a 28 on the ACT).

So would it be fair to say the university is more sports oriented than academics.

Not sure I can say either way, but I feel that there is a larger emphasis placed on academics with athletics falling not far behind.
