question about Big Sky teams on TV

watching NAU/Montana on Fox Sports the other day, it occurred to me that living in Los Angeles -- I get to see pretty much every NAU home game, basketball, women's basketball, and football game on FOX Sports Arizona. Which is great, because I went there.

But I'm wondering why I never see any other Big Sky teams. Do they have a contract with FOX, or ESPN, or anywhere? Occasionally I see North Dakota football and basketball games, but nobody else.

I've always been surprised that ESPN never did a Big Sky game of the week, culminating with the Brawl of the Wild. There are, like, four ESPN channel's now, there's gotta be room for one game per week.

Perhaps when the Big Sky expands things will change, but I've always wondered about the Big Sky's TV contract.

The Big Sky doesn't think big enough to get any games on TV. From the commish down to most of the fans, they all consider the BSC unworthy of such things. It's the main reason many Griz fans wanted out. And the expansion will do NOTHING to help. The RPI of the teams coming in is atrocious and will only lower the national perception of the conference, thereby reinforcing the "we're too small" philosophy that pervades everything Big Sky Conference.

must be true. ESPN air's Sun Belt basketball games for God's sake. While I agree this expansion lower's our perception, perhaps it'll expand the commissioner's vision as to what the Big Sky conference could be.

I'm in LA as well. I have the DirecTV thing where I get all the FSNs, Altitudes, CSNs, etc, and I have seen like 5 MSU games this year and no UM games. In fact, I think I've seen over half the teams in the BSC on the guide, but no UM. Maybe it's not as conference wide as we think...

I think some of this is because the GRIZ,KPAX, Learfield, etc make it so difficult for football. In turn, it is possible it hurts basketball coverage too for the GRIZ. Then again, maybe someone closer to this might be able to fill us in.

It made me sad, when I lived up there, that every single Griz and Bobcats football game was on tv during the season but the only basketball games every given tv coverage were the UM-MSU games.

KPAX, Learfield and the other local media outlets won't buy into it until the fans start showing the same consistent support they do for football.

The coverage NAU's been getting on FoxSportsAZ is unheard of. I never count on good things lasting so I'm enjoying it while I can.

Does Fox Sports give any coverage for any of the other non-Montana Big Sky Conference teams?

Addendum to my previous post:

I don't know what the local media is looking for either. The Grizzlies consistently pull in the second largest crowds in the Big Sky, right?

Normaly, The only games Weber gets on tv are on altitude, when they play at NAU and if they are lucky they might get a local tv game vs USU, Utah or BYU.

I have actually watched 5 Weber games on tv this year, the first one was when Weber played at USU that was on local tv, the next 3 were when Weber played Alaska-Anchorage, Arizona State and Drake up in Alaska, they where on Altitude, then I watched Weber play at NAU on Fox Sports AZ.

Weber's home games against UNC and MSU were also televised on Altitude.

Fortunately for me I get to go to the Weber/NAU game at the Dee, Its gonna be a sweet game, both teams are playing alot better since the last time they met. If it wasnt for the UNC/UM game I'd say this game should be BSC GOTW

Ahhh, I'm jealous of you, dude. NAU had a great home stand, but they've been a different team on the road. Curious if they can keep the momentum going. Good luck.
